Not been in the same situation myself, but congratulations! that sounds wonderful, I'm so pleased for you Thanks

Sleepyfergus · 17/01/2014 20:39

Awh, congratulations! That's lovely. Can't offer any advice but just wanted to say congrats, I love hearing of things like that.

I was on fertility treatment for 3.5 years before falling pregnant with Dd1, so I can empathise with ttc and awaiting treatment.

Here's to a h&h pregnancy!

Melhughes444 · 17/01/2014 20:40

Our best friends discovered they were pregnant the morning they were due to start ivf. Was supposed to be their 5th and last cycle. Best news ever Smile congratulations Thanks

flamingtoaster · 17/01/2014 20:45

Not been in exactly that situation but was told that I was so unlikely to get pregnant that contraception was a waste of time. I was devastated - but DS was born within 14 months of me being told that. It's a wonderful feeling isn't it! Congratulations!!!

Melhughes444 · 17/01/2014 20:49

It's a crazy feeling,I just don't know what I'm feeling, apart fromdaily headaches and extra sore boobs lol!! I thought I had another year of being irresponsible clearly that wasn't to be.i think it will sink in more when I have the scan in 10 days GrinGrin and then I'll be buying everything haha,is there any good websites for lists of everythingggg? We had two rounds of failed IVF, were told that there was a 10% chance of us concieving naturally, and had just started the third round. We went in v. depressed for the downregulation test, which is the start of each IVF cycle, because I knew my hormones weren't downregulating. At which point the nurse came in with a strange expression and said that the reason my hormones weren't damping down was because I was pregnant. we now have the world's most beautiful 4 month old.

Many congratulations!

EeyoreIsh · 17/01/2014 21:01

congratulations!

I was supposed to be starting ivf, after being told it was highly unlikely I'd get pregnant naturally. They had my drugs in and everything! I had a feeling that I was pregnant, did a test; and yep, positive! I cried down the phone to my gp and the fertility clinic I was so pleased/in shockBlush

I'm now 37 weeks and waiting to meet my little one Smile

LastOneDancing · 17/01/2014 21:14

DH just asked 'what's on the thread tonight?' I read him your post & he said 'that's brilliant!' Grin

Congrats from both of us and fx for a lovely, healthy pregnancy!

lizziekal · 17/01/2014 22:23

We had 4 lots of IUI, 7 goes at IVF and 4 miscarriages. Stopped trying 3 years ago as we weren't getting anywhere and couldn't face doing it all over again. I'm now 28 weeks with our surprise 'miracle'. It's a great feeling, isn't it. Congratulations.

Armadale · 18/01/2014 10:39

Lizzie, I only know you because of your support and encouragement on my thread, didn't really know your background, so moved to read your story here, and so pleased for you x

MissMedusa · 18/01/2014 10:48

We were booked in to start iui but the dates didn't work out as we had a vacation booked for the time I was ovulating so put it off until the next cycle but lo and behold I got pregnant on that vacation. Sadly, I lost that baby but it convinced us to keep trying naturally when they had told us we would be unable to. A year and a half later I am 22 weeks into my third natural pregnancy (after 2 mc).

Starballbunny · 18/01/2014 10:52

Congratulations, DF has a DS conceived naturally after 10 years plus of no contraception (he has to older ICSI siblings), she was rather Shock

Fishcake77 · 18/01/2014 15:00

Congratulations! I know exactly how you feel :-) My DH and I were supposed to start another round of IVF this January but found out I was pregnant in October naturally. After 7 years of treatments etc. it was a real shock but we couldn't be happier and now at just over 17 weeks this is really happening! Again, many, many congratulations.

Missmidden · 18/01/2014 16:27

Wow, there are a few of us in this boat- congratulations Mel!

We have a nearly 4 year old DD who was conceived naturally after a few mths, but TTC no. 2 was a different story. Had an IVF cycle in July/Aug from which I conceived but m/c early on. Then found I was pg naturally 6 wks later- never been more shocked in my life and am now 14 wks. It is such a delight not to have to go through any more of the angst and worry that the last 18 months has bought.

A question that some of you may have a view on- assuming all is well our family will be complete soon but we have 2 frosties. Is there any sort of embryo adoption in the UK at all? I have read that it sometimes happens in the US but no idea here. It just seems such a shame to have them destroyed when someone might be able to give them a chance. Any thoughts or experience on this?

jessplussomeonenew · 19/01/2014 17:13

Very similar situation here - I was sure I'd be doing IVF in December (37, 2 yrs ttc, unexplained) but the consultant persuaded me that in the months after hycosy scan we had a better chance of conceiving naturally so to give it a little longer. And lo and behold I had a bfp just before Christmas! 8 weeks now and I still can't quite believe it....

Congratulations to all those in similar situations!

Mintyy · 19/01/2014 17:17

Congratulations op! I had something vaguely similar, not quite so dramatic: I received a letter from the fertility clinic inviting me for an appointment (had been ttc about 9 months and was referred by GP) in the post about a week before I discovered I was pg.

What sort of scan are you having in 10 days and for what reason?

Shellywelly1973 · 19/01/2014 20:33

Congratulations to you all!

Such lovely stories... :-D

PrincessWatermelon · 19/01/2014 21:16

After ttc for almost 2 years, we were waiting for our IVF to start...we had the appt already. I was on clomid and they'd kept me on only so that they'd know when when my period would start. I decided to double my dose on the last go (cycle 10) and she is now 18 months old. Grin After dreading going through it all again, we didn't bother with contraception and I'm 6 weeks pregnant with no 2. Both miracles to me Smile
