hi, I'm 36 weeks now and finding night time awful. can't sleep for more thsn 2 hours at a time cause of bad hip pain but been getting sharp pains during the night only. Anyone had these only at night, not sure if it's the way I'm sleeping or normal?

Me! I'm 34 +6 although managing more than 2 hours a time... I have been signed off sick though and relaxing during day has improved it, also lots of pillows!

I've been struggling with hip pain since 36 weeks and now waking up every hour to change position which isn't easy either. Just had some acupuncture to see if that will help but think it's not going to be better until dc arrives.

flowerpot I've had this since 20 weeks, for me it was the start of pelvic girdle pain which has gotten worse. I'm seeing a physio who has given me exercises to do to strengthen my pelvic floor etc.

The hip pain is basically due to the weight of the baby. Wedging some pillows under your bump, behind your back and between your knees to keep your hips level while you sleep should help (or get a pregnancy pillow if you prefer).

I also find the pain much worse when I sleep on a harder bed. We have one of those memory foam mattresses but if your bed is a bit harder then you might want to sleep on top of another duvet/blanket so there is a bit more 'give' underneath your hips.

These things have definitely helped. I was getting two hours of sleep and then awake for the rest of the night. I now get about four hours and then wake up every hour to go to the loo/have a bit of a hobble around the flat which tends to ease the pain and allow me to go back to sleep. Not too much longer to go now! Hope the pain eases for you!
