Normal to worry at this stage?

Hi all, for some reason the last few days I've been worried about baby. I'm 14wks+2 and everything was absolutely fine at my 12wk scan. I think it's because I don't have pregnancy so toms like before apart from headaches. Bump is growing it seems so is this reassuring? Maybe I'm being silly but 6wks seems so long to wait for next scan to find out how baby is doing. Will I feel any movements soon? This is my first so I guess some days I feel a little anxious

Totally normal - I probably found this stage the hardest as I didn't "feel" pregnant any more as symptoms fade, but not feeling kicks etc yet.

You will probably start feeling movement at some point between weeks 17-24 with it being your first baby, but they won't necessarily be felt every day at first so brings its own worries then if baby turns round and you stop feeling them!!

You could book a private scan to tide you over between the 12 and 20 week scan (they can usually tell you the gender at 16-17 weeks!) but in all honesty pregnancy is the start of a lifetime of worrying about your little one, so I think you honestly have to just get used to it Grin

100% normal, i worried as well. In fact, im 29+3 now and my 21week scan seems so long ago. For some reassurance i booked myself in for a private scan to make sure everything is ok, which it was. Its always an option, but being a worry wart is a side effect of being a mum-to-be i suppose :)

12-20 weeks between scans was an age...and I was intermittently concerned, but about different things to pre-12 weeks. There's always something, eh?

Hang in there and try and distract yourself as best you can. I had a reassurance scan at 9 weeks and thought about having another one around 16, but then we got to hear the heartbeat at 16 week mw appointment (which I'd geared myself up to not happening, as it depends so much on your midwife and probably the day they're having!). That really helped. For a week or so...! But then after that I was on the look out for movements, so that was also a distraction.

And after 20 week scan and movements kicking in, it got loads better as you have lots of reassurance that things are likely ok.

Will I be able to ask MW to check heart beat at my 16wk appointment? Is this something they normally do?

Thanks for all the support ladies, it's all reassuring :) xx

They did check for heartbeat at my 16 week app but I've read on here quite a few times that they don't always do it as it's still slightly early and if they can't find it then obvs it can cause quite a lot of stress for mum. I think it all depends on the midwife. I remember it taking a good minute for her to find my LOs hb and I panicked like mad!

Very normal!

I was exactly the same between the 16w midwife check (she did check the heartbeat) and my 20 week scan, especially because this is DC2 and I'm positive I'd felt small movements prior to the 16 week midwife check.

I'm now 26 weeks and the little bean is certainly making up for the small punches I received back then... Wink

I was awful between about 14-20 weeks. My nausea was starting to fade (or i was handling it better) and i wasn't feeling movements.
Thankfully my bump was slowly appearing and my mw checked for a hb at my 16 week appointment (although some wont as it can be tough to find and if they struggle the parents tend to freak out)
Anyway the 20 week scan will be here before you know it and don't wish the time away as it goes so fast. I can still remember wishing for the scans to come sooner and then in what felt like no time at all I had my baby (who is now 3 weeks old)

Had 16wk appointment today and heard baby's heart beat!! Sooooo happy and relieved, only 4 more weeks until next scan so I can rest happy :) :) :)
