I'm eating well, drinking plenty and generally feeling quite good. Only thing is when headaches strike! I know it's because of the hormones because MW said if I had them when I had implant(Nexplanon) then chances are I'll get them now I'm pregnant, something about progesterone I think. She said I could take a paracetamol(without caffeine)if they get bad so that's a relief, but just wanted other ladies thoughts and relief remedies. I'm just getting one now before I go up to bed :(

Ouch! They sure do bang like no other head ache don't they?! How many weeks are you? My headaches replaced my nausea around 11 weeks and continued until about 21 weeks. Paracetamol didn't touch them but I did get a bit of relief from the roll on 4head. It was nice and cooling too. Hope you get a good nights sleep.

Yep I agree on the 4head to cool your temples and head down. I only found I could get comfy if I laid in bed, but I had a couple that bad they made me sick a few times. Touch wood I haven't had one for quite a few weeks. Maybe a cool pack on your head to ease the pain. I had a bag of ice wrapped in a tea towel one night, it felt amazing.

Hope you feel better soon OPThanks

You poor thing. I had them too from about 14 weeks til almost term. I was prescribed painkillers - I think paracetamol & codeine but I googled taking them during pg & decided against it. Like Tomkat I also found the 4Head stick helped.

Thanks everyone. Took one paracetamol last night which helped but I've woken up just now with the headache. Will try 4head and see how I get on. Had a cold flannel by my bed last night which helped a little. I'm 14wks and not had one for a while up until now. Dreading going into work but it's only until 12pm so not too bad. I'll be drinking a little extra today I think xx

With my nurse hat on...one paracetamol is no good. The adult dose is 1g..500g in children/underweight/elderly. Taking 2 may help and will do you and baby no harm.

And yes, water helps too. Don't work too hard.

mixi82 · 17/01/2014 10:16

Ah ok, I used to always take 1 as they seemed to work. I'll up the dose to 2! Just was worried about baby and taking stuff like that but if it's ok I'll continue with it. Is it best to get well known brand stuff or will the cheaper ones(like 30p per packet) work just as well?

I had headaches really bad (i think they replaced morning sickness for me) and i had to have lots of time of work from 8 weeks onwards, luckily my boss was very understanding! I tried to just sleep through them and often found i would go to bed early. Once i got to just after 14/15 weeks they dissapeared so hang on in there and i am sure they will start to fade.

Hi op I had pregnancy headaches too and strangely reflexology worked for mine. I had three sessions quite close together and whether it was just coincidence/ placebo they went.
I used to get them during my period as well and they have never returned.

Tomkat79 · 17/01/2014 17:30

Don't be fooled by brands....always look a little lower on the shelf! The plain paracetamol (without caffeine so not paracetamol plus) for 30p etc is just the same. Annoys me how these big companies like to con the public! X

I had headaches everyday from 8 weeks, they eventually went away at 16 weeks and I only get the odd one now. My way of managing them was to drink a lot - like at least 2.5 litres a day. Just remember, unless you are unlucky, they should get better in a couple of weeks so there is hope! X

Here's hoping then! I hung on with the morning sickness and that's finally gone. Headaches are so annoying though because being and work there's always noise, not much but even today the guy in the desk next to me slammed his phone down several times and I thought my head was going to implode!
