First scan at 16 weeks???

Hi mums
I just wonder is it general to take the first scan at 16 weeks??
I want to take a nuchal test. Is it possible to find out over 12 weeks?
Also My midwife didn't give me a maternity card application.
Should i ask for it?

I saw the midwife yesterday and was told the Nuchal fold test isn't accurate after 13 weeks and 6 days. When is your scan booked for? Can you get it any earlier? As for maternity exemption form I was given it yesterday too at booking in appointment! Definately worth asking for!

It's not valid after 13+6. I had my checkup at 13+2 which I thought was pretty late. I would ask to be seen earlier, most people are seen as 12.
