Disappointment in doctors

I began having blood in urine 2 days ago went doctors yesterday and they did nothing but a urine sample they sent away but today the blood was brown and more frequent so went back and doctor sent a letter to the hospital for a ultrasound my previous doctors would have sent me straight to hospital and now I live miles away from nearest hospital and got 4 other children to look after so it's difficult to just travel there. Tonight I notice proper blood and I'm concerned there's none on my pad still but I know this week is when I'm usually due my period so I don't know if it could just be that but it's really got me worried now any advice?

If its blood in your urine it's likely to be a UTI, completely different to if you're bleeding from your vagina. Where is the blood coming from, and how many weeks pregnant are you?

You need to have your urine dip tested by the surgery as well as sent to the lab for further tests. If you have an infection, it's important to start on antibiotics very quickly, particularly in pregnancy. The blood and leukocytes would be picked up by a dip test and would indicate infection very clearly.

I've had a pretty nasty UTI where there were small clots in my urine and on wiping bright red blood on the tissue. Timely application of antibiotics sorted it out within a few days.

Do you have other symptoms of a UTI and are you sure the blood is coming from there and not from the vagina?

I bought a urine infection test thing from ebay when I thought I had UTI. Will post the link. It is sold by a pharmacy and does work!

Hubbythecatandme · 15/01/2014 20:27

The sellers are chemists ;)

With my 3rd DC I had some heavy blood in wee on and off from about 25 week, woke one morning went to loo and it was bright red, I even had to check it was wee and not coming from anywhere else, dr gave me antibiotics and referred me for xray of bladder after baby was born and nothing came of it, but I did bleed in my wee on and off for rest of pregnancy, was very strange

Well the nurse yesterday was quite rude when I asked her if she was going to test the urine and she said yes but no point in you staying but I demanded to say and she said no uti so was confused when she sent the irine away because she believed there was something else present in urine. This evening doctors sent a fax to hospital for me to have ultraspund but once I got home and went to the toilet there was blood on the tissue again, this time a slight red colour and a few ball bearing sized blood clots so I'm completely confused about it. It's now just waiting to see what happens I'm still having blood when I wipe after the toilet but it's just lighter than a normal period no heavy bleeding and no pain at all. With both of my previous Misscarriages I just felt like is burst blood was every where. (Sorry TMI) :)

I might have to get some to keep an eye out for those sticks myself seeing as doctors are useless lol

Are you bleeding from your vagina or is the blood in your wee. Sorry i'm a bit Confused

Lozzy3003 · 16/01/2014 06:31

Well this is actually what I'm confused on myself. Every-time i wipe myself there's blood there but on my pad there isn't that much just like A tiny bit from like the end of a period, no discharge or anything either. There is no blood mixed with urine in the toilet either so I am really confused but the doctors didn't help and now I don't feel reassured at all.

I'm confused too. Your op says you have blood in your urine but now you say there isn't, just when you wipe?
Have you tried inserting a clean finger to see if it's coming from your vagina?

Lozzy3003 · 16/01/2014 11:29

Yes i tried the other day and there was blood. I'm just now waiting for local hospital to get in contact for an appointment. The bleeding is confusing me though because one minute its next to nothing and the next there's tiny clots on the tissue. I've had to previous miscarriages and one started as a heavy period and the other just gushed straight away. I've never had on off bleeding like this but i do know this week is when i'd be due a period but from my dates my last Period was the 11TH or 14th of November. Sorry for confusing you :)

Right well you might be better calling epu?

Lozzy3003 · 16/01/2014 13:04

Honestly tried that the phone line redirected me to to outpatients for women and children and when I spoke to a midwife she just said go doctors so I did and all they've done is said I'll get a call in couple of days from hospital for ultrasound. When I had problems in early pregnancy before my previous doctors got me an appointment straight away to make sure everything was ok. Worst part is I've moved to a new area and hospital so far away so quite hard getting to hospital specially while my partner works away. My only other option is go to hospital over the weekend.

Most EPU's are only open mon-fri so unlikely you would get a scan if you went to A&E at the weekend, they just tend to book you an appointment for EPU the following week.

Lozzy3003 · 17/01/2014 14:59

Well had EPS this morning! Had both tummy and internal scan learned I'm only 6+3 today. Baby had a heartbeat so seems like flick is holding on in there! Nurse said sounds more like implantation bleeding around time of my period but keep an eye on it and if it gets worse go back! So although I am less that I thought I am just happy to know it has a heartbeat and seems to be staying inside :) just gotta get through next 6-7 weeks and know that we are in the clear.
