I have recently had a routine urine test at my GP's there were traces of protein so it was sent off when I rang for my results today I was told I had to repeat the test when I see the mid-wife!
I had no idea I could be pregnant I am still breastfeeding my 1 year old and have not had a period since giving birth.
I took a pregnancy test and it came up negative, I was wondering if anyone has been in this situation and had a false negative?
I can't get in to see the Dr until next week so I am rather confused. Confused

Am afraid you quite easily could be. I am 23 weeks pg with DC3 atm. They were conceived while I was bfing my then nearly 3 year old and ebfing my five month old. I had two false negatives.

I'm a little bit confused. Did the GP do a pregnancy test? They should have told you if you were pregnant. There are lots of reasons why you might have protein in your urine.

I am currently 25 weeks pregnant with a 17 month old who I have only recently stopped feeding. I have not had a period since before dd was born so it can happen.

They sent it away I am a new patient there and its routine to do a urine sample because mine had protein in it they sent it away for further tests

Hmm it is a bit odd. Could you ask for a phone call from the duty doctor (there should be someone during working hours) to clarify?

I got a positive the third time I tested and it was a definite positive, but randdom is right- there are other reasons to have protein in urine.
