Booking and scan nightmare

My husband called me this afternoon to say my hospital letter finally turned up and believe it or not my booking appointmet was today at 11am! Anyway I'm not going to make this one now, am I? My scan date was booked in for next Monday which really would have been perfect but because I haven't attended the booking appointment the scan has been cancelled.

When I gave the antenatal clinic a call to rebook they can only get me on the 27th for booking and 28th Jan for the scan when according to my highly inaccurate calculations based on not exactly remembering my last period I'll be 14+1 the I have told them I am really not sure on dates but they just said that based on what I've said will be just within the limit for the screening to be done....should have made up an earlier date really.

Would you just go with what they say or try again and hope somebody else will be more helpful?

Bump not a lot to say, others should see & so thought I'd bump. Hope it gets sorted tho

Not true. Screening should be done for NT Scan by 13+6 at the absolute latest (or it is in the Netherlands where I am so why would it differ?) and they don't like waiting that long as the longer you leave the more inaccurate the results are. I was done at 13+3 and they rushed me through.

Phone again and say that's not on and you need an earlier scan. Ridiculous! Sorry you are having to go through this. I would make a fuss.

Try again, someone can usually make it happen. You have probably spoken to an admin person who generally don't care that much. I think there is a recommendation that everyone gets their booking before 13 weeks come up and it looks bad on hospital stats if people are kept waiting too long and end up missing that so if you get hold of a midwife they pretty much bend over backwards to get you booked, even if is just to maintain nice stats.

Yes, definitely push on this one. An NT screening is useless past 13w6d, it's not valid at all. It wasn't your mistake, it was theirs. They have to find a way to squeeze you in somehow.

Due to a clerical error they booked mine late, 14+4, couldn't fit me in sooner, couldn't do the nt visually so had to go for blood test instead, but tbh that was fine as the blood test you get 4 things tested for and is much more accurate whereas the scan is only for downs. Think results of blood test took about a week or so to come through

Thanks for the advice everyone. Fortunately they've booked me in now for next Monday (both scan and booking apt.). Wish I didn't have to cause so much fuss but happy now and so excited!

Call the hospital directly to rebook the scan. I did that with mine to move it a week earlier for convenience. Don't go through the antenatal clinic, go directly through the radiology department.

Oops, nm, just saw your update Shock

Good luck Monday, and sorry you had such a nightmare getting it booked.
