Hi I am new to Mumsnet and have just found out I am pregnant with my first child. I would like to buy a book (preferably with lots of pictures!) to let me know what to do/not do, how the baby develops, what to expect etc.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

No pictures, but best book to get us "Expecting Better"!

I second expecting better. For a bit more of a long term thing I can highly recommend Inna Mays guide to childbirth. Eye opening and informative read albeit at little 'hippy' (but maybe for a it later in pregnancy when you want to face the reality of what happens at the end!)

I used the Queen Charlotte's guide. It's a brilliant, no nonsense guide.

And I also read the Ina May Gaskin guide.

I bought one of those big books with development for every day. Not much practical use actually but made me feel like things were happening during the boring bits before I started showing! I've got "what to expect" but if you join online they send you the same info for free as daily or weekly updates. Reading Ina May now that the birth is getting closer.
