Hi

Can someone offer me some reassurance I'm 23 wks and just went for a wee, upon wiping I noticed a tiny speck of bright red blood. Wiped again and same thing but slightly more, wiped a few more times and nothing.

I have no cramps and baby is moving away but still really worried and burst into tears when I told my oh although he is trying to reassure me. I'm going to lie down and rest but as i haven't had any spotting during preg I wondered if this was normal?

I don't have a uti as mw tested me other day but she has run a swab for thrush and I'm waiting on results. I am sore and itchy down below due to thrush or an infection so not sure of this would cause a bleed.

Obviously if I continue to bleed I will go to hospital but should I be panicking now and going to be seen?

Why don't you call maternity triage? I'm sure it's nothing at all, but they would always rather advise you direct over the phone just in case. It won't hurt, and they may be able to reassure you.

Could it be cuts in the skin due to the thrush? The skin is very thin down there.

You really should give them a call! I'm sure it is nothing and could well be from the thrush, but on the tiniest chance it was something else, you don't want to live with the regret!

i had the same and it was a uti. id ring the doc in the morning and get a dipstick test done... unless it turns out to be the thrush.. uti is common, increased weeing and pain as well as are symptoms

It's really scary I know. I've had lots of bleeds throughout this pregnancy from 6 weeks on and I'm now 27 weeks and everything is fine. The likelihood is that the blood is coming from your cervix, which with all the hormones and blood flow becomes super sensitive in pregnancy. That's why if you ever call your MW/hospital about bleeding ,they'll ask if you've had sex in the last 24 hours. If you've had an internal/swab in the last day or so this could also have irritated the cervix and caused bleeding so my advice would be -don't panic BUT it is always best to get reassurance and guidance from the professionals when bleeding is involved. Give them a quick ring and see what they say.

Please try not to worry. This is my third pregnancy with various bleeds and it could well be your cervix that has a raw patch or something.

Phone triage and get the reassurance you need. They won't mind at all.

If you're resus negative blood group you may need anti d injection.

Thanks all for the advise! I spoke to my mw who reassured me that it was fine as the bleeding had stopped, was tiny to begin with and because I had no cramps and baby was v active. She said it was likely a broken capillary due to extra blood flow and is common.

Anyway I'm feeling much better and just so relieved it has stopped! Thank u for taking the time to reply yesterday, much appreciated
