Hello! Im 38.3 weeks pregnant. Since saturday iv been getting dull period like pains on and off throughout the day lower back and stomach. Sunday i sat up and had quite a large wet patch on my trousers but didnt notice it coming out? , i had loose stools monday and diarreah ( sorry tmi ) on tuesday which has now stopped!
Is labour around the corner for me??

Hi I'm 36 wks and have had severe period pain the last few days, on the weekend I had strong braxton hicks type contractions but no labour yet. Hopefully all these symptoms are the start of something for both of us but everything I've read suggests it could go on for days/weeks

I do hope so starsfish! Im so ready now! But my friend has had period like cramps a couple of times a day for weeks and shes now 5 days over due!
But everyone is different it may mean its not far off for us!

I'm 38 weeks and had all of these symptoms for days. Was v hopeful. Turns out I have a UTI!! Not suggesting you have but just thought it worth a mention. Confused

I hope so, but am not convinced... Have had strong period type cramps every morning from 2am to about 8am, but nothing more. Am now 6 days overdue, and have been having the cramps for nearly a week, mw said it's your body getting ready for labour, rather than labour itself.

littlecrumb · 09/01/2014 13:07

I am 39 weeks and having exactly the same…lower back ache, cramping in my lower stomach and loose stools. I would say our bodies are getting prepared and it won't be too much longer :)

lilyholdin20 · 09/01/2014 13:23

Hope so! I get cramps across my bump at times too and sharp pains very low with his head! Im just keeping my exercising and walks up to hopefully push him down ha ha

If you had a large wet patch on Sunday you really should have rung the midwife as if it's your waters they are there to protect baby from infection. They'd want to know if your waters have gone. Good luck

I ended up going to triage so i could get some answers! Turns out wet patch was more than likely lots of watery discharge nice haha im not dilated at all and im just having strong braxton hicks!
At least i can relax now for a few more days?

Sounds like you are going through exactly the same stuff as me lilyholdin20. I don't know about you but I am very ready for the arrival of my little one now!

lilyholdin20 · 10/01/2014 10:47

Me to littlecrumb! Midwife said body is preparing so its not to far away now please lord!
Didnt think i would get this frustrated towards the end ha ha

Me either, I have had a good pregnancy overall so thought I would be quite happy for baby to stay in for as long as it wants but nope! Frustration here too. Keep updating & good luck with everything x

lilyholdin20 · 10/01/2014 13:30

Ditto! Will do and you! X

For me it's more frustrating that my body is playing tricks on me, I don't mind all the pain and being uncomfortable if something is going to happen, but after it all it stops and nothing comes of it so frustrating!!!

lilyholdin20 · 10/01/2014 17:16

I no how you feel! Its very frustrating i wasnt expecting such a long build up to labour! But on the plus side these braxton hicks and pains we are having have been known to make our labour that little easier than women who dont get them.
