Do GP/hospitals not re test you after referring you for pregnancy?

Hello,

I am 10 weeks pregnant. Found out by doing a couple of traditional tests with faint line appearing and then a digital test that clearly confirmed I was pregnant.

I had my first hospital appointment where they did the sickle cell and other blood tests but at no point tested me again to confirm I was pregnant.

Now I am probably paranoid but I am terrified of attending the scan in 2 weeks and not see a baby in my belly! O

My last period was 28th October and symptoms have been very subtle (a bit of morning sickness for a couple of weeks, feeling tired and the occasional headache but that's it)

Can someone reassure me?! Is there really a baby in there?

Thanks!

Congratulations noon! ThanksSmile

Nope I too wasn't tested again, found it very odd but I assumed that when the heartbeat was found at 12 weeks I definitely had a baby in there Grin

Hardly anybody ever gets tested here in the UK unless there is doubt over the pregnancy, or there is early bleeding/some other special reason e.g. fertility treatment in which case sequential blood tests are ordered. They really do just take your word for it, which stunned me with my first pregnancy!

They don't tend to retest you as they use same method as you did. They sometimes will do blood tests but don't think that is very common.

It's very nerve wrecking waiting for first scan, everyone feels like that. I'm sure everything will be fine, try not to worry Smile
