Gone off food...

I had really bad morning sickness which thank goodness eased off after week 12. However, I'm now finding that I've just gone off food in general. I still like some things (satsumas are my saving grace) but apart from cheese and onion ridge crisps (!) I don't fancy eating anything. I particularly can't stand cooking. DH did it all while I was ill, and the food doesn't make me sick any more but I just have no interest whatsoever in cooking anything. I used to love baking but I don't even want to do that.

Is this normal? It's not that I hate anything, or have any particular aversion to anything, it's just that nothing really appeals to me.

Hey I lived off sweets for a few months and junk! But even then I'd have a few bites of food and give it to my DP! Xxx

I'm the same. If it's not coco pops.....I don't fancy it. I hoping this goes soon........it's annoying me!

talulahbelle · 06/01/2014 06:09

Same here. I just don't fancy anything and have to force myself to eat. Hoping it gets better soon.

Same here. Though I'm almost 23 weeks now and finding that I actually have an appetite the past few days!

I can totally relate to that too - Ive been so totally off my food almost since my BFP - its such a huge thing for me as I used to LOVE food and LOVED cooking and now the thought of food is TOTALLY UNAPPEALING! Im very worried that Im not getting any nutrients to the baby because Im only eating very small amounts of white bread or pot noddle both of which are so unhealthy - having previously been a bit of a health nut and only eating healthy food this comes as a huge disappointment that I can not eat anything healthy and my food list just contains a few junk foods

Total sympathy for us all and I really hope it gets better for us all soon - I LONG to enjoy my food again and to be able to eat bigger meals than a small sparrow!

I'm the same - was a total health nut before and ate really well...loads of salads and vegetables with meals and always eggs for breakfast, never crappy cereal. But from week 6 - 12 I couldn't stand the thought of going in the kitchen, cooking or food ! Just wanted toast..fruit...sweets...crisps...Did eat a lot of fruit but that was the only mildly healthy thing. Stuff I used to like such as broccoli or steak, I would try to eat but gag. Now I'm 14 weeks and can stomach more food, starting to eat eggs again since 12 weeks, and a bit of meat. But I do just feel really disinterested in food and cooking as well. I can't think what I would like to eat and am completely out of inspiration for cooking a meal for me and DP. I've kind of stopped feeling hungry too (whereas in the early weeks I was starving but didn't want to eat anything as too queasy) but then realise I need to eat when I get really shivery and the quease comes back...so force myself to think of something I could eat. So annoying as I used to love going out for dinner, cooking for my DP, trying new recipes....love strong tasting takeaways like Thai and now I have NO interest ! Weird. So OP you're not alone ! I can't explain it but I suppose it must be kind of normal....Everything was fine with my baby at 14 week scan and it was the right size, everything looked good etc. So that's the main thing !

superlambanana · 07/01/2014 19:51

That's exactly how I feel eepie - never any idea whatsoever what to have for dinner and DH is rubbish at thinking of things which doesn't help!

Same for me, I'm 14 weeks. I think I could quite happily not eat all day...but I'm so hungry all the time! I hope this feeling passes soon as I used to love my food!

14 weeks and exactly the same. Don't fancy anything- just existing on biscuits, milky bar buttons, oranges, soya milk and the odd jacket potato. Hope it stops soon!
