Just starting to TTC number 2. DC1 is 3. Was really sick for 20 weeks whilst expecting her and v worried how I manage to look after DC1 and work if it's that bad again. Would be v grateful for thoughts from anyone who was v sick with DC1 about how subsequent pregnancies were. Thanks in advance.

I was sick with DS who is now 3. I'm 21 weeks with no 2. I was rather ill with the second (as with first). But DS was so cool with it. "Mummy lie down on the couch, now here's the remote put on Tree Fu Tom now"

DP was really good at picking up the slack with I couldn't as I figured it was practice for when they babies comes.

Thanks for replying. Was it basically the same then?

Pretty much, but hey you never know.

I was really sick with both DCs. Identical pregnancies! It was hard, but you just cope I suppose. Quite often took myself off to bed when DH around, got him to take DS out at weekends, and got a cleaner. Easier second time in that I knew what was coming - sick until exactly 18 weeks both times.

With DS (2) I sailed through pregnancy with hardly any symptoms but DD (10wks) was a totally different kettle of fish. I had severe nausea that only eased in about the last 8 weeks. When it was really bad I'd lie on the sofa and we'd watch loads of cbeebies and DS would eat biscuits!!

Thanks for replying. A bit downhearted now! I had believed the "every pregnancy is different" chat!

Kate, with DD1 I was very sick. Took time off work, the whole lot, until I was 16 weeks. With dd2 it was bad for a few weeks (3-4) but eased much earlier and I never actually vomited with her as I did with DD1.

Thanks banana that's v encouraging!!

So far, my pregnancies have been completely different. Went off meat with DC1, sore boobs too, didn't show for about 5 months and then got loads of water retention. This time I've has almost no symptoms at all other than being tired (I'm a working mum with a 2.5yr old so that could just be my lifestyle!), but I was showing at about 10 weeks. Different cravings too.

findingherfeet · 06/01/2014 08:29

Yep there is hope, I was dreadfully sick with DD1 and seemed to have every symptom going but this time round (33 weeks) no sickness and to be honest I've barely noticed this pregnancy other than

KateH32 · 06/01/2014 08:42

Thanks Hubba and finding!

Mine was exactly the same unfortunately.

With Dd1 I had an easy pregnancy, no nausea or sickness whatsoever. I'm currently 23 wks with Dd2 and have had horrendous all day sickness from very early on. Dd1 who is 2.3 has had far too much Cbeebies and lived on baked beans and baked potato thank god it's her favourite meal.

Foxeym · 06/01/2014 10:19

Pregnancies can be different, DD1 I was sick all the way through, DD2 I was sick until about 20 weeks and then it came back towards the end and DS3 I felt nauseous between weeks 7-14 and then again from about 34 weeks but never actually vomited with him??

HandragsNGladbags · 06/01/2014 11:20

Perfect pregnancy with DD1, no sickness, no nausea, didn't even know I was pregnant.

Horrible months of nausea with DD2

Nausea and sickness up to 15 weeks with this one.

So for me every pregnancy has definitely been different.
