Hi all im new to here !! I'm mega excited as im roughly give or take a few weeks round bout 15 weeks pregnant with my 1st pregnancy. I'll have my first scan on friday. Bit nervous but excited toooo Grin But what I would really like your help on is what is the best moisturiser or oil to get and use to prevent stretch marks? I'm a curvy 12 and has never had a flat tum so don't mind bit of weight gain but stretch marks.. if i can prevent them id like to. If celebrities can avoid them then why cant we... there must be a winner somewhere so girls what worked for you if anything? X

Congrats!
I think anything works - the real trick is to actually use whatever you buy!
My sil swears by bio oil. Pricey but often on offer in Primark

Apparently nothing in the world will prevent stretch marks if you're going to get them. There are some claims that moisturisers will help, but no actual evidence to back it up.

If you're 15 weeks, come join the June antenatal thread in the ante natal clubs topic!

Nothing can prevent stretch marks in my experience. I bought every product on the market but ended up with stretch marks from below my knees to my arm pits. My mum & sister are the same.

It's more to do with the type of skin you have inherited.

Good luck...! :-)

I got stretch marks as a teenager on boobs and thighs- they've fizzled out a treat. Now 31 and am 29 weeks pregnant, been using bio oil since about 10 weeks- don't think it will prevent but do think it helps reduce severity/appearance as have seen peoples scarring improve with it (am a nurse) :-)

Clarins tonic body oil
I used it for both pregnancies and have no stretch marks
Rubbed it all over belly from about three months onwards

it smells gorgeous and although it's pricey I felt it's totally worth it ...

I used bio oil every day of my first pregnancy and didn't get a single stretch mark (despite going a week overdue) - but I do agree that sometimes it doesn't matter what you do, they can be inevitable.
But still it doesn't hurt to try prevent them!

People are so split on this! My "secret" was to drink tons and tons of water and I bought a jar of compressed coconut oil (edible) amazing stuff not 1 stretch mark for me. My mum is covered in them so it might of been lotions or just luck.

Agree weeteajenny - I've been Clarins firming and toning oil since about 3 months and not a stretch mark in sight, even though I am prone as had stretch marks on boobs and hips as a teenager.

I used bio every day in my first pregnancy and didn't get any. I didn't bother in my second. Neither my mum or sister have them. Its just the type of skin you have I'm told.
