Reduced movement 37 weeks

I have noticed a significant drop in movement today from little bubs - she is still moving but nowhere near as much as she has done.

I have had tea sweetened with sugar as this gets her going, are a meal tonight, has a chocolate cookie (she really likes those!!!) and also some cheesecake and she just doesn't seem too bothered!!

Should I be worried about this or can it be normal for her to be having some quiet time? Last time this happened (I hadn't felt her move all morning for about 4/5 hours), I called the hospital and they said they wouldn't usually worry until a 24 hour period has passed with no movement?!?! I found this really odd but this is my first so also aware I might be over-reacting.

Go get checked ut, any chmge in movement atterns or reduction in movement should be checked out.

Whoever told you that on the phone is talking bollocks. Go and get checked!

Any change in movements should be checked put. No one will think that you're being daft. They'd much rather you go in for nothing and all be ok than you leave it and the worst happens.

I'm sure it's all fine and your little one is just being quieter than usual - it does happen often. Some days they move less than others. We all have our lazy days but if you're worried then please go and get checked.

I did when I was pregnant. All was fine and the MW who put me on the monitor was lovely. I rang up and said that movement had reduced (I was having contractions but wasn't in labour) and the MW said "come NOW".

Go in RIGHT NOW. Don't call first. 24 hrs is far too long to go without movement.

Please go right now. I've had three episodes of reduced movement this pregnancy and each time it's turned out to be absolutely nothing but I still went in for monitoring.
Whoever told you the 24 hours thing is talking complete bollocks.

Hi I'm just back from hospital, I had a sweet cup of tea and there was still no change.

I called ahead and spoke to midwife on duty and she said to come over and they will hook me up to the monitor. Almost as soon as we arrived, baby started shifting around! (Typical).

Heart rate and everything was fine - I had protein in my urine at last midwife appointment but they have checked those results (cross contamination) and also checked a fresh sample and it was fine, as was BP.

Pleased I went across. They were absolutely lovely and have said anything at all, or if movement doesn't pick up, get straight back across as it only takes them
A few minutes to hook me up to the monitor.

She's a little monkey - I felt her shift at around 7am and she hasn't moved since. Maybe she has just quietness down a little bit, or maybe she is moving slightly and I can't feel it.

Seriously you should complain about that advice you were given, it is wrong and dangerous, and if they're telling other people that it's a real concern.

I hope it doesn't signify that I'm having a porker!! I was hoping for just a little one...!

I just wish her movements would go back to what they were normally. She's still making me very nervous not moving much.

Did they scan you at all, or just heart beat and movement tracing?

If things aren't back to "normal" tomorrow please go back and tell them that you are still concerned. They can scan to check the placenta, position of the umbilibal cord etc.

No scan randommess - they did a trace (I think that's what she called it)? Hooked me up to a machine with 2 bands round my tummy... 1 monitored the babies heartbeat and the other monitored contractions (I wasn't having any anyway). I must have been attached to that for a good 30-40 minutes.

Please don't ignore your instincts if you think things aren't right, babies do not get quieter at the end it is a myth. Scans and traces/monitoring are only valid whilst you are on them - they can't ever tell the full picture and you've only had monitoring not a scan.

I will definitely get back in touch with them if I don't feel that things are right. Initially last night I just felt like I was wasting their time (even though it's the first time I have been over with an issue!!), but they were really very good and understanding. I feel much more comfortable about contacting them again.
