At my first midwife appointment?

What do they usually do?

Do they do internals?

Thanks

oh, not alot, cert not internals - never do ime except sometimes right at the end, don't worry!
from memory almost entirely form-filling, yrs & dh's medical history, wee test, weight that's it, i htink.
congrats, btw!

Yes, just loads of questions and form filling. I never had an internal throughout the whole of my pg.

My first (booking)appointment lasted over an hour, though most of that was the midwife moaning about the state of the NHS, staff shortages, the fact that the urine sample bottles had been put in the wrong place etc... Endless form-filling, answering the same question several times on different pages...

They wanted some blood from me, too (couldn't get it, though, had to wait until 16 weeks when they had smaller needles!)

form filling
ask questions
urine sample
take blood samples
take health history you and DP
weigh you
talk through birth options

think that is about it but takes about an hour
