moses basket mattresses

So 2 people have given us their moses baskets so I'm on the hunt for new mattresses. Was looking at mothercare as they have 30% off at present so a new mattress would be £6.99. But they are 75cm long. Both my baskets require 70cm and when looking online the cheapest I can get for this size is £20 each.

So my question is, since my husband is very good with DIY etc, are these mattresses from mothercare easy enough to trim down by 5cm? anyone tried it with success?

Or if not, can anyone suggest a website or shop that we can get decent mattresses at this size for a decent price?

I would imagine they would be hard to trim down as most of them seem to be covered in plastic (pee-proof!) However, it might be worth looking in the Mothercare store as opposed to looking online (I found the images online were not particularly helpful. Proved easier to go into the store with the basket and try all the options out for size.)
