Nail polish and C Sections

I was just wondering whether nail polish on fingernails and/or toenails needs to be removed before a C Section (either planned or emergency) is conducted on you? Does anyone know the answer to this question?

You only have to have it removed from one OR the other- they dont need clear toes and fingers, they'll only use one set, generally the fingers. This is what i was told when i got a general anastethic last summer. Thank god for that as i hate my toe nails when they arent painted!!

They need nude fingers just to check the colour or pressure (or something like that), they press on them periodically to make sure there is oxygen- or SOMETHING like that!! but you are fine to leave the polish on your toes!!
