Stupid question alert! Tummy after birth

I'm starting to get to that point in pregnancy were my stomach is looking like a road mark and a little itchy, and solid, starting to find it hard to bend.

How long after birth does it feel like a normal squishy empty tummy.

I can't wait till my baby boy is here but I'm not enjoying pregnancy in the slightest. Putting me off for life.

Is it weeks months before normal again.

I think my uterus went back to vaguely normal in about a week? I can't really remember.

SweetPea86 · 01/01/2014 14:38

Squishy straight away, it was amazing being able to touch my toes :)

Bakerof3pudsxx · 01/01/2014 14:50

The big hard lump is your baby! So once baby is out your all empty

Strongecoffeeismydrug · 01/01/2014 14:52

Squishy straight after delivery, back to normal well 18 years layer it's still not back to normalWink

RedRobin1 · 01/01/2014 14:54

Ah! I have wondered the same. At 39 weeks and can't wait to see my feet and put my socks on and be able to bend without feeling baby in my ribs!

Does it feel hollow and empty? And weird on the inside?

Bakerof3pudsxx · 01/01/2014 14:58

Just like a big bag of jelly I found

VerySmallSqueak · 01/01/2014 15:06

I didn't find it felt hollow, empty or weird.
Just without a big bowling ball inside it!

theborrower · 01/01/2014 15:08

You will still look pregnant (about 5 months) for a few days, if not a week or so) after, but it won't be hard, is that what you mean?

Mine felt like a big jelly belly for a while though. I saw a good friend about 6 weeks after her birth, and she had a washboard stomach. Damn her! ;-)

RedRobin1 · 01/01/2014 15:12

All of this sounds so relieving Grin can't wait to get this baby out and sleep on my front and be able to turn and bend without aches!

BeansAndCheese · 01/01/2014 15:32

The first thing I did when I got home was have a lovely sleep on my tummy. Bliss! Mine deflated and went squishy straight away, although I was fatter than I thought (was pleasantly surprised when looking in the mirror after the birth, then tried on my old clothes Shock ).

Imagine an underfilled water bed - your tummy will feel like that straight after the birth. It's really quite weird. Then slowly over the next few weeks the skin will start tightening up and feeling more normal.

AryaofhouseSnark · 01/01/2014 16:00

Mine was like a bag of jelly for quite a while after, it took a while before I could tense my stomach up and feel the muscles.

lannyshrops · 01/01/2014 22:37

I felt sort of empty and a bit 'loose' for a while.

I couldn't sleep on my tummy for about two weeks, but when I did. Bliss!!

I'd say it took about 4 weeks for my tummy to feel almost normal and about 4 months to feel like my muscles were knitted back together IYSWIM?

The saggy skin and the 4 stone, well that's another story...Blush
