Had my dating scan! This is my first baby and I was quite emotional seeing him on the screen. He was kicking about and waving to say hello haha, I loved it. (I say he but I don't have a clue at the moment!) Been having issues this Xmas with DP, we had decided to go on a break a few days before(long story!) but he turned up for scan. I was actually quite pleased he did, he was so chuffed seeing baby. Small steps to make amends but by no means forgiveness for what he has done. Anyway, I can't stop looking at scan pic and finding myself talking to baby lots now, I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful way to enter the new year!!!

Congratulations Mixi! Happy New year and I do hope things work out for the best for all 3 of you.

What's your due date? I had my dating scan before Christmas and I'm currently 14 1/2 weeks due 28 June. This is my first and I agree seeing the image on the screen of you tiny baby for the first time, bouncing around arms and legs all over the place is mind blowing

Thanks everyone! Due 16th July, summer baby :)

Not sure how things will pan out with DP. at the moment he is treading on extremely thin ice and I maybe looking at being a single mum, right now that is the reality for me. BUT.....my focus is on baby and every time I think or see scan pic I am so proud and my mind switches off everything and everyone else. Thanks for support everyone and warning you all now that I maybe venting lots of stress on here in the next coming weeks!!

Vent away!!! I had my DS 8 years ago as a single mum, and it's not as hard as people make out! I've never had to worry about the dad's opinion or point of view, or inlaws!! And if anything, have had it a lot easier than my friends who are still in contact with their exes. Last year I lived abroad for a year with my son, had the best year EVER, something I never could have done if his dad was on the scene. The only thing that annoys me is that through the powers of Facebook I now know that his 'dad' has had another son, who he appears to idolise. Men eh?! Know it's a long message...but it's basically just to say that you CAN do it by yourself if that's the way things pan out! It's not that hard and you get to have that gorgeous little baba all to yourself!!! xxx

I had an early scan New Year's Eve too! 6 weeks and an amazing strong heartbeat :)
Congratulations all! Xx

Thanks Justpenny :) it's nice to read success stories like that. My mum says I'm a strong woman as it is so this won't phase me in the slightest! As soon as I found out I was pg, I knew exactly where my priorities lie. Baby will always come first no matter what and I won't put a child of mine through any unneeded stress or anxiety. Men really piss me off sometimes, can be such arseholes and think nothing of it. If you knew the story behind my DP, you'd all be telling me to cut him out completely I'm sure

How do you get an early scan lj? I've just had a call from my midwife and my first appointment is on 13th January...but my dating scan wont be until the week commencing 6th February. Going from my last period the midwife reckons i'm 6 weeks pregnant, although the clearblue digi said 2-3 weeks yesterday. I WANT A SCAN NOW!! and then one a day until the baby arrives! haha! :) xx

After 4MC and an ectopic last year needless to say my stomach was churning in the way to the hospital!
I laid there legs akimbo frightened and it was all very quiet, the lady turned the screen my way an I knew what I was looking for (good old google) when I saw my little pea I just smiled but then she turned the sound on and I was a blubbery mess with the sound of the heartbeat! Was amazing!
I know you can get early scans in various locations, over here a 6 week scan costs £100, luckily mine was on NHS due to past issues but I'd quite happily pay to check especially if your anxious or confused with dates. Xx

lj123 · 01/01/2014 20:50

I'm already considering booking one for 10 weeks just so I can check again I'm not going insane! Lol
I've only got slightly sore boobs and the smallest touch of nausea now and again! X

mixi82 · 01/01/2014 22:07

Wishing you all the best LJ :)

I asked to hear the heart beat at my scan but they said they don't do that at this stage. I'm not sure why as you could see the heart beating and she said it's a good heart beat. Just would have been nice to see it. Does anyone know if they'll do that at 20wk scan?

Mixi thanks :)

That's strange! At least you could see it! Tiny bit of reassurance at least, maybe you will at 20w
Smile Xx

Justpenny · 02/01/2014 09:48

I might look into paying for a private scan then...I cant wait until the beginning of February! I'll be 11 weeks by then if my dates are correct...that's a loooooong time to stress and will cost me loads cos I know i'll b P'ing OAS at LEAST once a week until my scan! haha! xxx

MightilyOats · 02/01/2014 09:53

I had my dating scan NYE too Smile they made me wait til almost last possible day - 13+5, then found I was 14 weeks, so couldn't do the NT scan I'd requested. Torture waiting soooo long for the scan as I had a mc in the summer, and was almost convinced I'd be facing a MMC or something equally grim - but baby was in there, stretched out and 'sunbathing' as the sonographer put it Grin

Congratulations OP and hope things work out for the best for you. Good luck lj
