Safe to paint the nursery??

Me and DH had just completed the first coat in the nursery when I remembered someone telling me months ago that pregnant women shouldn't really near paint fumes??

Obviously I'm now feeling very nervous....

It was just standard paint from B&Q - do I need to be worried?

I hope not...

I always end up decorating & painting when pregnant!

I painted when pregnant, just made sure all windows were open so it was well ventilated.

My friend painted the nursery last year when pregnant and everything was fine.

I'd be in a bit of a panic too but then I probably breathe in worse walking around my local town! No worries, I'm sure all will be fine Smile

Check the side of the paint can for the VOC rating. Emulsion paint is generally low VOC, so nothing to worry about.

TBH even high VOC paint is probably not really a major issue (maybe if you're a painter and decorator and exposed to it all day every day) although I did use it as an excuse to get DH to paint some woodwork recently Wink

I heard it should be avoided in the first trimester, but we painted the bedroom in the first trimester!

Don't worry one coat of paint isn't much to breathe in. The guidelines are probably more around prolonged exposure.

If you're doing any more just make sure the windows are open. Leave a lot of it to DH, I did because I was too tired.
