Hi ladies. I know there's a few threads on here about when we all start showing but I can't believe how big I am already!

We were planning on waiting until our first scan to tell people, and even though I've definitely been showing to myself and DP I didn't think it was obvious to anyone else. However, my MIL asked my DP if we had anything to tell her before she went home today snd she said she could tell just over a week ago because of my belly and my bum has got bigger too, she said I also have 'the glow'!

From reading threads on here about when first timers started to show, I never expected to show so early! I'm medium height and average size so not skinny. My DP keeps joking that it's twins!

Anyone else with their first show so soon?

I'm also worrying it'll be a big baby now Shock

I showed early too. I'm short & was quite slim (to start with) & my work colleagues guessed by 9 weeks! DD was a fairly big baby (8.12) but my DH is very tall & built like a Viking, think DD just takes after him. Try not to worry about it, you can't do anything about the size of the baby.

Also, early bumps can be caused/worsened by bloating.

IAmTheOneWhoKnocks · 30/12/2013 22:59

I thought I had a huge bump at 8 weeks but it was just bloating :(

TheBookofRuth · 30/12/2013 23:02

I was in maternity wear by ten weeks with my first. Got a lot of unsurprised "was that supposed to be a secret?" responses when I "announced" it at 12 weeks!

MrsCharlieD · 30/12/2013 23:07

Im 17weeks and my bump is still pretty unnoticeable. Im desperate for my big bump, but at 9 weeks it is more likely to just be bloating that may subside x

LastOneDancing · 30/12/2013 23:34

I gave in to maternity jeans at 13 weeks & had lots of hilarious 'is it twins' comments Hmm but I've evened out at 26 weeks & don't look ginormous for my weeks anymore. Hooray!

So don't panic - a big bump at the start does not necessarily mean you will keep growing at that rate!

Newlywed2013 · 31/12/2013 02:00

i cant wait to get a bump! DH thinks i will baloon, i am a tiny size 6 so he thinks it wont be long until i show!

Sausagesaurus · 31/12/2013 08:15

Phew! It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who is showing early! I hope it does even out. I did notice a girl at work looking at my tummy yesterday when we were talking, I had a big jumper on and I could see it stuck out in front of me as I looked down so I'm guessing she could see it so I'm sure I'll get the same comments as you Thebookofruth!

My BIL who is only 21, as dopey as anything and completely oblivious had also said to his mum that he thought I was pregnant so I'd be surprised if it was bloating if it's obvious to him.

None of my jeans fit me any more and my leggings roll under my belly. I really need to buy some maternity clothes!

I'll tell my parents tomorrow when I see them, I'm sure my mum has her suspicions too.

I hope you get your bumps soon MrsCharlieD and Newlywed2013

Both myself and my twin sister started showing from 8 weeks with our first, I had a 9lb baby my sister a 7lb baby. We were also worried about twins as they do run in the family. I am now on number 3 and started showing at 4 weeks, we just put it down to the fact that the bloating just accumulates in the one place rather than all over like with most ladies.

BlondieTinsellyMinx · 31/12/2013 08:54

I had a bump from 8wks with DD - she wasn't huge though, only 6lb 5oz so early showing doesn't automatically mean a huuuuge baby! Smile

RedPencils · 31/12/2013 09:03

I was showing at 10 weeks and it was twins.

VJONES1985 · 31/12/2013 09:55

I'm 6 weeks and can't wait for my bump but I know I have a long wait!!

MissMedusa · 31/12/2013 10:07

It can also depend on the strength of your abdominal muscles.

TheBookofRuth · 31/12/2013 10:09

I don't even think I can provide tea and coffee, there's no facilities for making them.

People will just have to cope, it's only for two hours!

TheBookofRuth · 31/12/2013 10:09

Wrong thread, sorry!

hazeldawn · 31/12/2013 15:25

I'm 5 Weeks by my calculations but midwife days 7 but that's another story this if DC 3 showed fairly early with both my others but Jeans were tight before so i've given in & got 1 pair of my maternity Jeans out to wear around the house. Thinking big cost for the school run & I should get away with a few more Weeks but not sure how many lol

scrufhead · 31/12/2013 16:16

Im 6 weeks but look six months! Damn you bloated belly!!

Nulanoo · 31/12/2013 16:25

I'm very bloated at 9+ 4 I'm not very tall so have nowhere for it to go!
