Hello ladies.
I found out I was pregnant about 5 weeks ago and last night I started to bleed fresh red blood sorry for details! I wasn't in pain so I thought I'd get to bed. . This morning it's changed to a dark blackish red with tissue in it here and there and very slow bleeding!! But I have period pains.
Iv spoke to doctor and I have a scan next Monday. A whole week away!!!
They weren't very helpful.
When your having a miscariage can you bleed on and off? Nd how long does the process take. I'm so confused and on my own I don't know what to do. Even can I help it alone? Because I want this to be over.
Any advise would be lovely xx

I am so sorry you are going through this. I think the bleeding can stop and start. The time it takes is variable.

Do you have anyone there to support you? Hot water bottle and painkillers will help a bit.

I wish there was better support for women in these situations, having to wait to find out what is happening is just gutting Sad

You could try calling your epu at the local hospital. I had the same 2 weeks ago and got a scan the next day? I really hope all is ok for you xxx

Thank you. I'm not in pain really just period pains! The doctor rang epu and said they can't get me in until Monday??
Just can't understand why bleeding stopping and starting !?

You may not be having a miscarriage, I wouldn't do anything to try to help the process if it is, just rest as much as possible x

In your shoes I would phone the hospital directly or just turn up. I was in epu a year ago & whilst I was there a woman just turned up. The staff were lovely to her & she was seen in just the same way as every other woman in that waiting room.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/12/2013 16:43

yup! Id probably just turn up if it happened again.
FWIW, there is a wonderful MC topic here on MN. If you click on Talk you then go to body and soul and its in there. You can say what you need and ask what you want, and everyone has been in the same boat. Id definitely recommend a look. xxx Flowers

Nothing too add but to say i hope you get soon. Big hugs & take care of yourself. X

Shellywelly1973 · 30/12/2013 16:46

Get seen soon...sorry!

snowpink · 30/12/2013 17:46

When I had bleeding around 6 weeks I went to a&e and got seen in epau straight away. All the best for you.

mumof3xxx · 30/12/2013 17:51

I've been ok in this pregnancy but, in my 3rd and 4th pregnancies I had period like bleeds at 6 and 10 weeks, if I hadn't had all of the other symptoms I would have thought they were normal periods. Do you still have any pregnant symptoms? I know it is hard to get to the hospital with 3 to look after but, if you can, do.. at least you will know for sure what you are facing x

CrispyFB · 30/12/2013 17:59

Definitely go straight to the hospital. Even they still won't help you before next Monday, then try another hospital! Worst case scenario you can probably find a private scan clinic with a free appointment but you would have to pay.

I'm so sorry you have this worry and the NHS is being so spectacularly unhelpful. I hope all is okay - it's not necessarily over until it's been confirmed by a scan. I've heard so many stories with happy outcomes after really quite severe bleeding and clots - a subchorionic haemorrhage can cause so much bleeding.
