Shaving the bump..... Your thoughts

I'm 29 weeks and have a sizeable bump. The problem is it's hairy! I'm blonde and pre pregnancy I was not super hairy. I had a few errant hairs below my belly button which I tweezed. Now there are loads of them! Really noticeable and dark. I tried tweezing but it was surprisingly painful - are bumps extra sensitive?
Do I shave or use cream? Or would this lead to a lifetime of stomach dipillary? Is this a common problem?

Why not just leave it? It's winter- you're presumably not wearing a bikini much!

notoneforselfies · 28/12/2013 22:25

Just leave it! It happens to everyone. It'll go away after the birth. Unless you are planning on flaunting your uncovered bump to lots of people or doing maternity modelling or something?! Otherwise you'll end up with horrible re growth...

I shaved, didnt like a hairy bump and yes, its common and due to hormones like everything else in pregnancy. Not had a problem since birth so wouldnt worry about that hth

The hair will go so do not shave! I had a line of blonde hair appear on my bump and it went after the birth, it is very common and everyone I know says theirs went too!

Im also blond with a hairy(ish) bump. The hairs are fair but still darker than my natural hair colour so I'm well aware of them. I definitely won't be shaving them though, just accept them as yet another delightful aspect of pregnancy Smile

It's normal to get as hairy as hell when pg! It all falls out in the weeks after birth, but if you want to shave it then do so! I just thought of it as out of control bikini line and dealt with it accordingly.

Your pain threshold usually seems to drop dramatically when pg. it sucks.

ditsydoll · 28/12/2013 23:40

It is normal and does happen to most people but I did shave mine.. it all fell out afterwards anyway though.

AppleYumYum · 28/12/2013 23:43

I bleached mine, they weren't super dark but annoyed me. I wouldn't shave if I were you as it may come back thicker and darker in places it was blonde before...

sarahquilt · 28/12/2013 23:50

I wouldn't bother.

amandine07 · 29/12/2013 01:31

Definitely agree with the other posters- leave it alone as it'll disappear after the birth!

Fab thanks ladies. I suppose you Re right I'm not exactly bearing my midriff at all and sundry!
The hairy preggo thing is weird though - I have proper hairy hobbit toes!! What is the biological advantage to that? Is it an evolution thing so I repel other men? Wink
