I have a ds who is 13 months and would love another soon but I'm actually too scared to go through labour again! When does that feeling fade enough that the broodiness takes presidence?

My dd will be just 2 when ds arrives. We started ttc when she turned 1. I always wanted them quite close together, but now I'm in a constant mild panic!

As no one has mentioned it I thought I would bring up secondary infertility and m/c which happened to me. My DP took his time to decide a second was a good idea so we started trying when DD was 2.3. It took 6 mths to conceive first time round so I thought we would get a 3 to 3.6 year age gap.

Sadly things did not go to plan, ended up with IVF, a m/c, then fell pg naturally and am now 11 wks so the gap will be 4.3 yrs. And I am so grateful as a few months ago I thought it was never going to happen at all. So, no matter what you plan for, life can still throw a spanner in the works.

For me it was all about feeling ready to go on maternity leave again rather than pregnancy and birth.

I missed work a lot when off with DD and felt really happy and content when I went back 3 days a week. It is the perfect balance for me. I did come to realise that I definitely wanted another so perhaps was best to get on with it rather than thinking about it.

31 weeks now so there will be 2.3 years between DD and DC#2.
