Insomnia driving me crazy!

I have never had this lack of sleep to this extent. I am getting maybe 1-2hours a night max and the rest of the night I can't sleep. It is really taking a toll on me. I'm 7 and a half months pregnant.

I didn't have this with my first child other than the usual middle of the night up for the toilet etc but this is totally different.

Then all I can hear is my husbands heavy breathing while he sleeps, I eventually get up and watch tv.

He comes to bed about half 1 every night and disturbs me and reads his book. I think that might be part of the problem.

It feels very lonely to be awake like this at night and it's getting worse.

How can I go back to normal?

Insomnia is annoyingly very common in pregnancy. I wrote a similar thread a week or two ago. Can you ask your dh to be more considerate with his bedtime routine at all? Surely he could go to bed earlier or even sleep elsewhere for a few weeks if it meant you could sleep properly.

I really sympathise. I'm only 5 weeks but the excitement of finding out and nausea gave me a sleepless night last night. I took myself to the sofa at 4am for some quiet and to feel less restless but I still managed less than an how's sleep.

Habeas you asked OH not to disturb you or read. For the sake of yours and baby's health you need every opportunity to rest up.

I've also been told but the doctor not to give in and do something or my body will get used to the stimulation and wake up more and find it harder to get back to sleep.

Thank you ladies. We have talked it through and hub is going to start turning in at same time as me just for last stretch of the preg, and then I won't be as disturbed. It seems like the drop of a pin wakes me fully these days! Nothing used to stop me sleeping so it's quite unusual. Thanks for kind words and advice x
