Hi ladies

Can anyone recommend ways I can meet new people? I have just moved to a new area with my husband and my dad and I am 25 weeks pregnant. I don't have any other children and my mum died last year, so I am feeling a bit lonely at times. I am not working either. Will look into volunteering but won't be able to do too much as pregnancy progresses!

Would it be weird for me to attend a parent and toddler group to try and meet some other mums my age, when I am still pregnant and don't actually have a baby to take along yet? What else do you suggest I can do?

Thanks

xx

NCT antenatal class was where I met loads of friends. Also NHS Antenatal and pregnancy yoga. I'd do as many of those as you can manage if I were you! Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck Smile

Could you look for an antenatel type class pregnancy yoga / aqua aerobics? (baby group without baby would be weird imo). Also local forum or facebook site maybe.

some NCT groups also run Bumps and Babies groups. I found these invaluable in the early days with DS and wish I had started going beforehand.

Forgot to say that these are often free to attend and you don't need to be a member.

I am 20 weeks and just moved to a new place (new country too!) so I know how you feel. I joined a local forum for mums and they have a monthly coffee meet-up I am going to go to. We're also hoping to enrol in antenatal classes. It is a bit lonely though - especially over Christmas! I have also found some groups on a website called Meet Ups so I might join a book group or something like that.

I definitely wish I knew a few more people around me in the same position but my brother and SIL moved when she was pregnant too (also abroad) and she met loads of people through prenatal yoga and classes and she absolutely loves where she lives now and has lots of friends. I am hoping it'll be like that for me (and you!) too!
