Vomiting blood

apologies if this is the wrong section for this, I am 33 weeks pregnant and have been unwell for nearly 3 weeks.
It has been mostly a cough and being sick after nearly every meal neither of these have concerned my majorly but today after lovely xmas dinner I was sick repeatedly and last time it was lots of just blood (it had what looked like clots in it ) sorry for tmi. Obviously I am freaking out about it but wont be able to call doctor until friday , any idea what it could be?

Call your midwife or the labour ward NOW.

Ring the midwife or hospital labour ward just to check I would say. Could've ruptured something in your throat

you haven't been eating loads of beetroot, have you?
a&e preferably a a hospital with labour ward now.
take something to read and a small bag in case they want to observe you over night.

I will phone once dd is in bed trying not to worry her , was pretty freaked out when i seen it though. I have felt
fine otherwise today and cough has pretty much
gone which worrys me more atleast if it was after
coughing fit could put it down to that , scared to
call incase thy want me to go get checked out just
now its imposible tonight. No beetroot or anything red at all today it was 100% blood and quite a lot of it have a tissue with some of it incase its needed.

Take yourself to hospital now. There is obviously something up. My friend coughed up blood for ages a few years ago, it turned out to be nothing and went away on its own, but you absolutely must get it checked. Especially as you are pregnant. Good luck

yeah dh is at his parents 3 hours away and he does'nt drive and their is no one else to look after dd till i go, I havent told dh yet as he will panic. I will phone tonight as soon as dd settles , realy freaked out , baby is kicking away as normal so atleat she is ok.

Put yourself first and get help ASAP. So what if your child has a crap nights sleep? OP, please look after yourself.

can you ask a neighbour to babysit? take her with you?
you really do need medical attention now, christmas or not.

OP, the blood is coming from somewhere. If you lose enough, you'll pass out and your child will have nobody looking after her. Get a neighbour to look after your DC if you must but you really must go to the hospital now.

Hawkmoth dd is a worried I dont want her to spend christmas day sitting around in a hospital , dhs mother is in late stages of cancer and dd is very upset and worried about death, dh will be back at 7am though so will defiently go as soon as he is back.
mousmous sadly no the only neighbour who could/would do it is visiting her family until friday.
Jolleigh I have been fine since then and it was the only time(s) it has happened I feel normal I know I cant tell whats going on inside though.

Route666 - you can't tell what's happening inside. That's precisely why you need a hospital. If you're as sure that it's blood as you say you are and there was that much of it, you really shouldn't wait until 7am. Even if it means taking your DD to the emergency room with you.

I realy cant I dont have enough cash for taxi either, its defienetly blood I kept a tissue with some incase I need it, there was I would guess around a handfull both times .

BabCNesbitt is it ? I feel completely fine surely its most likely just to be related to the sickness or the cough I will go at 7 as soon as dh is back Infact I will call him and see if he can get back any earlier , its crappy timing though any other day I wouldnt have hesitated to go to hospital and get checked out.

It is definitely serious enough to warrant an ambulance. If you're absolutely determined not to get seen, at least call your DP and tell him precisely what is going on.

I would agree - at least ring your out of hours GP for their opinion if you don't want to go to A+E.

Jolleigh on phone to dh just now, he is going to try get a hold of his brother to either watch dd or drive him home, doubt his brother will be sober though .

just thought i should update , I phoned nhs 24 this morning then went to out of hours they think its a stomach ulcer , they wanted me to stay in hospital but agreeed to let me go home as long as i go straight back if any more blood or if i feel unwell, got tablets so hopefully they do the trick :) .Thanks for well wishes.

Hi, just spotted this thread, also would have said to call ambulance or go to hospital immediately! Blood in vomit can be very serious. Hope you're ok, OP, please look after yourself and call NHS 24 immediately next time x

Thanks theborrower feeling alot better now , got a bit of a telling off for not going in straight away but luckily alls well, will defienetly go asap if it happens again .

hi there,

I would ring the midwife just to be sure but I had this towards the end, I dunno if you've had sickness in pregnancy but I had it threwout and had damaged my oesophagus and near the end I had heartburn and reflux which made me sick more violently so I had tissue and bits of clotty blood come up too! Good luck but defo call the midwife ;o) xx
