18 weeks and having a bit of a wobble

I think being pregnant has made me crazy. I'm crying at everything today. Quite a few people have announced their pregnancies today on FB and it just makes me really anxious that I'm going to miscarry! How stupid is that? There's always a risk but 18 weeks is low, right? RIGHT?! I'm ridiculous.

My head needs a wobble.

I think by the time you reach 12 weeks your chance of carrying a healthy pregnancy to term is something like 98%. I still have the odd wobble and I'm almost 35 weeks!
It's natural to worry, it's what being a mother is all about :)
When is your 20 week scan? I hated the stretch between 12 and 20 weeks but found that after my scan I really started to believe that I might really get to have a baby!

HowAboutNo · 23/12/2013 17:14

35 weeks! I wish I was at that point! How exciting. I had a scan about a week ago and all was well (just a private pre-Xmas one) and have only got 2 weeks until my 20 week scan so I've been lucky I guess! The anxiety is killer though!

Hi, I think it's normal to feel that way, I am 19 weeks tomorrow with my third and I keep thinking things will go wrong, just can't imagine having another baby! Also I keep thinking I should have felt it move by now but still haven't as far as I know! I would feel better once I feel it kicking! Also I know what you mean when other people you know are pregnant, one of our friends is 28 weeks pregnant and my niece is 26 weeks pregnant so I found out last and keeping thing one of us something has to go wrong lol silly I know

HowAboutNo · 23/12/2013 18:19

That is exactly how I feel - with all these people pregnant, I just worry it'll go wrong for me! I haven't felt kicks or anything yet either, hopefully that starts soon for both of us!

I spent the first few months convinced was nothing there until 12 week scan despite feeling like crap. Then felt movement from 16-18 weeks then nothing, convinced it was game over. Then scan at 21 weeks all was well and the little madam hasn't stopped moving since.

Please try not to panic, all is well.

MrsRV · 23/12/2013 20:18

I wobble all the time. 20 weeks today with scan tomorrow. Felt bab kicking last couple of days so have in my head thought, ok, it's alive. now I just have to worry about development. was no where near this anxious or worried with DD. I think it's because I muscarried in July... was only 7 weeks but has really taken the naive sweet edge off it for me this time. fingers crossed for tomorrow. how on earth will I sleep tonight!?!?!

Surprisethird · 23/12/2013 20:32

Good luck for your scan tomorrow, are you finding out what the baby is? Mines on the 2nd jan and going to find out this time, had a surprise on last two but this ones was not planned, so going to find out to be a bit more organised!

Hope we will feel some kicks soon, do you have much of a bump?

SpawningSalmon · 23/12/2013 21:08

Another one here. I am 18 weeks and had quite a big bleed 2 weeks ago and have had minor spotting ever since. None of the medical professionals seem at all concerned (had a scan at the time, all looked fine), but I am so worried all the time! I wish I would hurry up and feel movement so I know all is ok.

HowAboutNo · 24/12/2013 00:01

Good luck for your scan MrsRV how lovely, an Xmas eve scan!

surprisethird my bump appeared out of nowhere about two weeks ago, but a few kicks here and there would be nice!! A very nice Xmas present indeed.

spawning that sounds so upsetting!! Well done for getting through it without going crazy like me

Fingers crossed for movement soon

Oh yes, this sounds familiar.
At 12 wk scan - convinced they would tell me nothing's there
At 20 wk scan - convinced it would be gone/have horrific problems
At all other points when it's not actually kicking me to bejesus - convinced I have done something wrong and it's all over.

I am 38+3 Grin. I don't think the worry ever stops, but when you get kicked all day, it helps a little. Unless you need a wee Grin.
I didn't get movement until 23-24 weeks, either.

Good luck!

Oh I'm glad it's not just me. Oh no wait. I'm not glad you're all in the same rubbishy wobbly place I am in! I finished work (only for Christmas) Thursday and had a near nervous breakdown at the end. Poor DH! I also (in my anger/in an attempt to get air) had a brisk walk outside and walked into a gate which I got very stressed I'd hurt baby! Everything seems fine and I've had no symptoms of any problems since but I'm desperate for our 20 week scan (Friday, I'll be 20+6) at the mo I feel that Christmas is "in the way", and I just want it to be Friday. Then there's all the worries about all the possible anomalies they look for, and the 1 in 100 chance of MMC at this stage. Ugh. DH is quite "what will be will be" and "we'll cope with it IF it happens" rather than my broken track record (mainly inmy head) of "what if"!

Totally regretting writing our news in Christmas cards!

I guess we (all) need to be hopefu/ ready for anything and stay positive with a hint of "we'll cope if the worst happens"!

I also keep thinking flutters are kicks and I hope some of them are, but many of them seem to be followed by a large fart. Oh dear. You'd think I could tell that by now!

Sending everyone love and best wishes for imminent scans!

Xxx

just thought I'd report back... scan fine & another little girl. also, anterior placenta again so explains lack of kicking!!

now worried that baby will be damaged from my lack of pregnacare and iron tablets.

did scan go ok today??? xxx

ClearlyMoo · 27/12/2013 21:55

Hello MrsRV and OP. Oops, sorry forgot to report back! Yes! Scan all good. We will be 21 weeks tomorrow! Found scan fascinating. Could've watched it for hours. We didn't find out sex. I have an anterior placenta hence limited kicking felt.

Good news all round! OP, let us know when you're done too!

Surprisethird · 27/12/2013 22:13

Congratulations clearlymoo & mrsrv, glad both your scans went well, I have mine on the 2nd jan and looking forward to finding out what we are having :0)

HowAboutNo · 27/12/2013 23:07

Congratulations all!!! Great news. Please keep your fingers crossed for me, I've got until the 10th jan

Time seems to takes ages to pass when your waiting for a scan! Good luck for the 10th, are you finding out if it's a boy or girl? I never did on my other two as I like a surprise when it is born, however this one is not planned at all, and I feel it might make me a little more organised. We have a 14yr ds and a 8yr dd, had a op in may to remove a cyst on my left ovary as well as my ovary, (had half my right ovary removed in 2010 due to a cyst) and they was trying to save my remainder of my right ovary, so they asked if they could put the mirena coil in during my op to try and stop me ovulating! Which I agreed as I am not allowed on the pill anymore due to a blood clot in my lung last year. Three months after my op, I was pregnant, to cut a long story short, they forgot to put the coil in and forgot to tell me! So here I am ! 34 and staring again!

Lol posted twice sorry :0)

Wow! So it's a little miracle baby! I went for a private scan a few weeks ago and they say it's a girl but want to wait for full confirmation at 20w scan! Wasn't going to find out but really need to get into the spirit of things as I've been so nervous!
