Just been to toilet and got browny/red discharge. Am so upset and worried. Want to go to my scan today even less now. Is it bad news? Is it because we dtd the yesterday?

I had cramps that felt like period pains in the early weeks of each of my pregnancies, i'm told it was my uterus stretching. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, lovely Flowers

Lj8893 · 23/12/2013 12:36

vjones I didn't feel right either, I was absolutely certain my scan (12wks) was going to be bad news. To the point, I had pretty much come to terms with it and was already talking to my dp about trying again. I got a helluva shock when I saw that little heartbeat on the scan!!

LizzieVereker · 23/12/2013 12:36

Have a cry if you need one! We'll hold your hand on here.

VJONES1985 · 23/12/2013 12:39

What a crap time of year to be having these worries!! I usually love Christmas! I'm just so gutted it may be too early to see the heartbeat!

If it is too early, they may be able to schedule you in for a scan the following week (I know that means prolonging the worry!). I hope it all goes well. It's really easy to worry about things - I guess that's kind of what we're letting ourselves in for from now on! And yes, nothing wrong with having a cry if you need one (I went and hid in the work toilets and had a bit of a sob when I was bleeding!).

wifey6 · 23/12/2013 12:51

Hope your scan goes well today VJ.
If too early for detection of heartbeat, a follow-up scan will be scheduled a week or so later, although that means prolonged anxiety for you unfortunately.

VJONES1985 · 23/12/2013 12:54

Thanks all. Think of me at 1.45!

Fwiw I'm 23weeks tomorrow and the whole pregnancy I haven't "felt pregnant" at all! Good luck for scan.

polarpercy · 23/12/2013 13:04

Good luck this afternoon, I had something very similar. I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 5+4 as it turned out. Period was late so husband convinced me to buy a test (had a miscarriage at 7 weeks the month before so wasn't holding out much hope). Took test and put it on the side in bathroom, but noticed bleeding. Was going to just chuck the test as I thought there was then no point checking it! As I did I noticed the darkest second line I had ever seen.

Anyway, seen at EPU the next day due to previous miscarriage, so I was 5+5. They saw a small kidney bean shaped sack with a fetal pole I think (from memory). Had to go back in two weeks to monitor progress. The following week at 6+5 I had more bleeding and convinced myself I wouldn't see anything. Went back at 7+5 and saw a heartbeat. I also convinced myself that I no longer felt pregnant and that all my symptoms had gone. Long story short I had more bouts of random brownish bleeding over the course of the pregnancy but my little 4 week old kidney bean is now sleeping next to me.

I really hope you get good news this afternoon.

Thanks
NSEPWM0814 · 23/12/2013 15:30

Vj, I am exactly the same. Have been having period cramps and a brownish staining when I go to the toilet for the past 2 days. I have carried out A LOT of research and apparently it is completely normal at this early stage. As others have mentioned it can be caused by implantation.

Hope our appointment goes well, I'm sure it will :)

Feelingfatty · 23/12/2013 15:56

Hope this went okay Vjones x

Feelingfatty · 23/12/2013 15:58

And you nsep

DontCallMeDaughter · 23/12/2013 15:59

Just seen this Vjones, we were on conception threads together so wishing you all the best. Thanks

VJONES1985 · 23/12/2013 16:17

Hey there. Well, they dated me at 5+4 (not 5+6) and it was too early for heartbeat but they were very pleased with it and said all looks fine. Am going back in two weeks to check the heartbeat.

Lj8893 · 23/12/2013 16:23

Brilliant!!! Do you feel calmer now?

Tea1Sugar · 23/12/2013 16:25

Hope it sticks! Just shows we are all different and every pregnancy is different. My sister had a scan at 6+2 and they didn't see a heartbeat, went back four days later and there it was. I had an early scan at 5+5 and they could. Fingers crossed for you.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 23/12/2013 16:29

That's good news! Fingers crossed for the next one :)

mssleepyhead · 23/12/2013 16:50

congratulations v : ) 5+4 puts you about 2 days ahead of me, i think. really glad to hear all went well with you today. had my first gp appointment today and ended up sobbing on the train after it, thinking it was going wrong because my boobs aren't very sore today. have been stuck in a sad and tired mood ever since. i don't understand this pregnancy thing, it's just so hard, but it does sound like you're getting very good care so i hope things continue to progress well for you.

Feelingfatty · 23/12/2013 16:55

Great news Vjones

VJONES1985 · 23/12/2013 16:56

Tes1Sugar - don't say you hope it sticks! I haven't worried about that for a few hours now!

OP posts:
CrispyFB · 23/12/2013 17:02

That's great news! You'd have been very very lucky indeed to have seen a heartbeat that early, but measuring within a day or so is all you could hope for really!

Tea1Sugar · 23/12/2013 17:20

Didn't mean to worry you! Loads of people on here constantly said that to me right until my 12 week scan! Sure it will

VJONES1985 · 23/12/2013 17:59

I do feel much calmer - it's nice to see it there in black and white! Due to my T1 diabetes I will have 8 scans in total.

I have four appointments coming up - 7 week scan and booking appointment in two weeks, then consultant appointment in same week as 12 week scan on Feb.
