Have you been to the docs? I don't mean to scare you but there's been a lot in the press recently about a liver related condition that's potentially harmful with itching as it's main symptom.

www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2520959/Pregnancy-When-itch-pregnancy-sign-baby-risk.html

Prob unlikely as you didn't get it last time but Might be worth going to the docs ASAP so you can rule it out. Better to be safe than sorry. Hope you feel better soon.

I was going to post the same as rugbywidow7 I'd give your midwife of doctor a ring and get some bloods done just to be safe

olivo · 19/12/2013 21:26

Oh blimey, this takes me back. I had it with my first pg. I was tests for OC but it wasn't. The itching was horrendous, used to wake crying in the night, DH used to keep face cloths in the freezer and smother me with them in her ha middle of huge night. Eventually I was prescribed piriton tabs, they helped me get a few hrs sleep, and I had a steroid cream but was only allowed to use it. Sparingly.

Good luck,I really hope you either get something for it or it goes away.

Peanutsmummy2be · 19/12/2013 22:12

Def speak to your dr or phone your maternity assessment unit dixie. I have oc n its brutal at night time, i get my bloods checked every week, consultant prescribed me piriton which i take every night. Hope you get on ok at drs tomorrow.

mollysmummy1970 · 19/12/2013 22:52

I've just had this too, and I'm also being tested every week.

The doctor prescribed me piriton which didn't help so I'm now taking loratidine aswell, I think it took a week or two to get into my system so don't be disheartened if they give u that and it doesn't work straight away.

I also heard my midwife saying to the consultant that there had been an increase in people complaining about itchiness after having the flu jab, could this apply to you?

mollysmummy1970 · 19/12/2013 22:54

Sorry forgot to add, I don't have oc, just have my bloods checked just incase.

DirtyDancing · 19/12/2013 23:18

Pls see your midwife ASAP- RugbyWidow is right. A lady in m NCT group has just been induced because she had the liver condition which was serious. Started off with itchy palms

get a blood test done tomorrow

cathpip · 20/12/2013 11:46

As olivo says this is my third pregnancy with intense itching! was tested for oc but do not have it! it's really bad at night, I take the occasional anti histamine tablet and have found that Vaseline do a hydrating aloe Vera gel and that is working wonders! have not had to resort to the steroid cream yet! Hope this helps.

dixie12 · 20/12/2013 12:00

thanks for all the replys i just got back from the doctors. she dosent seem to think it oc but just to be safe she booked me in for a blood test next week. she also give me some emollient cream. hopefull that will help.

I take piriton as it helps the itching and insomnia. Had it in all 3 pregnancies. Seems to be hormone related. Good luck!
