Foods you can eat - paranoia

Can anyone please advise and keep me under control? I've just been out for dinner and had mayo on a burger. I asked and was told it was made with pasteurised eggs so it should be fine - is that right? There is no other reason why not to eat it?

Also I had chips with part of skin on them but it wasn't until after I scoffed them I thought I maybe shouldn't have eaten them due to to skin.

Am I just being paranoid? I'm 29 weeks pregnant and paranoid about everything!! Shock

That sounds super paranoid. Do you think the mayo was made fresh on the premises? If not, you've got nothing to worry about. If yes, you've still probably not got much to worry about.

Why do you think you can't you eat skin on chips? That's a new one to me.

Yes you are being extremely paranoid. Try to relax and go with the flow. At 29 weeks I was probably out scoffing mussles and blue cheese sauce haha!

This is a pretty good guide if you are worried - www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/917.aspx?CategoryID=54

Have a wee look at this page on the NHS website :-)

Oh! Great minds think alike.

Oh boo forgot to make it clicky, thanks Borrower!

Oh sweetie, yes, it's absolutely fine if made with pasteurised eggs!
And if, as is usual, the chips were cooked, they're also fine. Toxo risk is from uncooked and unwashed root vegetables. Cooking kills toxoplasmosis. You're good!

Although there are, obviously, foods we need to avoid, I always keep in mind that a restaurant is going to do its utmost to make sure they don't give food poisoning to their guests. A restaurant wouldn't run the risk of giving someone salmonella because it would be shut down or sued.

Thanks guys!! I feel it's a minefield with the foods! I defo asked beforehand about the mayo and I think it is made on the premises but it is defo with pasteurised eggs so hopefully all is fine. Thank you again for helping put my mind at rest. I think I will drive myself around the bend before this baby comes! Lol! X

I got horrendous food poisoning when I was preggers and it was from Nandos so hardly exciting lol! So long as you are sensible and careful it'll be fine x
