To jacuzzi or not to jacuzzi

Have found the jacuzzi at my gym to be heaven on on back -I'm 28 weeks. I researched it and felt that all the advise to avoid jacuzzis and hot baths is linked to blood pressure and the danger of fainting as you get out. I alway have my partner with me and get out very slowly after 10minutes so felt I would be ok.
Today my midwife said I couldn't use it as the amniotic fluid should not get hot. Really? Can it be that hot? It's very warm but not like a hot bath; can it be v bad? So how does that affect women in hot countries?
I realise I'm reaching for an answer that allows me to continue but I am genuinely interested in others opinions!

I read that you shouldn't raise your body temperature to much (similar thing to what your midwife said) sorry but think you may have to find something else to ease the back Smile

I thought jacuzzis were not advised during pregnancy both because of the heat and because of the risk of infection.

It's also different being outside in the heat than being in the jacuzzi. In the water you won't be able to sweat to cool off, so your core body temperature is more likely to increase, which can have a negative effect on baby.

I wouldn't, and I love a hot bath.

I think infection would worry me to much.

Oh dear. Sounds unanimous! No more jacuzzi for me. Is it terrible that I hadn't thought about infections!? I also hadn't thought about dirty sex ponds much either; most of the clientele at the gym could knit shreddies for a living but I suppose they doesn't mean they're not up for a bit of jacuzzi action!
Thanks ladies, that image has out me right off!!!Grin

Just thought I'd tell you I went in a hot tub with dd at about 32 weeks she was fine and I've been in a hot tub twice in the last two days at 22w. I turn it down to 37degrees and only stay in 10/15 mins x

Thanks mamabear, it's always good to hear other people's experience. I used to go in every day after my swim. Now I'll treat it as an extra special treat and if my back's really achey I'll have a quick stint...
It's taken me a while but I think lots (not all obv) of the preggo rule are similar to when you are on a diet. If I say I'm not allowed that at all I crave it. If I allow myself it on a special occasion I want it less.
