Back story,
28 weeks, baby has DS and a hole in the heart.
I've just had a really unsatisfactory for me growth scan.
Male sonographer, the silent type, I didn't get to see the screen, didn't get any info, got asked if I was seeing anyone afterwards, im not, he just shrugged his shoulders. Basically, reading the mininal report, DDs head circumference and femur length are around average, but her abdominal circumference is above the 97th centile. There's also a 'deepest pool' of 7.2. aim assuming that is amniotic fluid but wasn't told anything at all.
I haven't had a GTT yet, but know there is a link with GD and abdominal circumference and fluid, but any kind of clarity here would be appreciated.

Hiya,
I'm not super knowledgeable, but isn't that another marker of DS (large AC with short FL)?
Bit surprised you had a scan without an attached consultant appt though! Surely someone should explain the results to you and be able to answer your questions...

my next consultant appointment us Christmas eve. I'm fairly certain it us a marker, but its grown considerably and some reassurance or even information would be good.
I'm doing ok with everything as long as I know what's going on, but im exhausted from work atm and more than a little emotional.
Last growth scan the consultant and the scanning MW were present. This time it was just the sonographer and his assistant.

Both of mine have had large AC all the way through pregnancy. This baby is big all round but my DD had average FL rand HC but a huge AC. I've not had gestational diabetes with either pregnancy despite being a higher risk because of both my BMI and family history.

Although large AC is a marker, it doesn't mean that you definitely have it, though raise it at your appointment and them to bring your GTT forward just in case.

A real shame the consultant couldn't be there for the scan. I'm disappointed for you actually given the circumstances.

I agree it is a sign of DS.. all of mine have big heads, big AC and short femurs which really added to my paranoia when I was waiting it out last time with a 1 in 34! This baby has the same as well, along with the 1 in 5 as you know, but I have to trust in the Harmony result. I don't have GD and never have as far as I know.

Usually they do another growth scan with results like those, but hopefully there is nothing to worry about! I'm no expert but in my uneducated and anecdotal experience, 97% is high but given the rest are average, it's not that huge a discrepancy - it's not in the 99%+ range after all. I've had lots of 97%ish/3%ish results with various things and people are concerned, but not the same panic as at 1%/99%. I hope the days pass quickly until Tuesday regardless.

Thanks guys. I was really tired and emotional from work yesterday, so probably a bit unreasonable, I just felt like if they could have wheeled my bump in and left me in the waiting room they would have!
I've got monthly growth scans, so next time I'm going in primed. I'm going to make it quite clear what I expect.... to be able to see what's going on, not to be treated like I'm ignorant or invisible.
