Has anybody else discovered they are pregnant with no idea how?

We are really happy that were expecting our third child but completely shocked-we can't pin point a date when this could've happened and its not a time I'd have chosen but it seems meant to be. I did diet a lot this month I can't help think it pushed my ovulation out and maybe it happened late in my cycle but would it show from that single time unprotected 6 days before my period was due? Has anyone else got pregnant so late in their cycle, is it possible to get a positive a week after unprotected sex? TIA

Thanks all for your replies the test line was very dark and it was only a sainsburys own test, my second baby I got a very faint positive with so in comparison this was unmistakable (& I did it in the evening.) I don't think I could be further than 6 weeks (from first day of last...) as last month was particularly heavy and painful but I can't pinpoint any other time it could've happened than a week prior to such a definite test result, we use condoms and that wasn't the only time we had during the month just the only time without controception. I guess only the scan will tell. X
