Hi. I'm 12 weeks and have been eating like a gannet cause i'm so hungry all the time and my tummy is big and hard and i look pregnant already. I think i have put on over half a stone!! i had a dream last night where the midwife told me i have put on too much weight and its scared me.

How much did you put on in the first trimester? When did you start showing?

This is my first baby - I had an elastic band holding my regular jeans up at the 12 week scan. I think I'd put on about a stone by then (ate through the nausea).

I popped at about 16 weeks & gave in to full on maternity wear, but my appetite has drastically dropped since then so fingers crossed it'll even out a bit Smile

With DD I was showing by 12 weeks; with this one I was showing by 6 weeks (currently 32 weeks). I think I put on about 4 kg in both first trimesters, about 8 kg in the second trimesters, and then weight gain slowed a lot in my last trimester last time. This time not so much ...

Don't worry too much about your weight gain. It can be scary to see the scales going up and up, but your baby needs you to put on weight!

Eat what you can if you are feeling ill, try to stick to healthy choices where possible. Sugar is the best thing to avoid, although I certainly haven't ever managed to stick to that mantra for longer than a few days!

And you can lose it all afterwards! I had a year between DD's birth and getting pregnant with DC2, and although I put on a lot with DD, I was smaller at this BFP than the last one.

Oh and MW has never mentioned my weight, or weighed me since the 12 week scan which was part of the NT assessment.

I've put on a stone in a month!!! mind you, that's from wedding weight, i was skinnny (like most brides) but still, a stone, i'm horrified.
Have been eating like someone who's just come off a hunger strike!!
14 weeks now though and i think the hunger bangs are abating somewhat.. my sis and sil both said they put on the most in first trimester too, so hopefully i'll be the same!

i was also LAZY during first tri, starting to be less so now, getting out walking for eg and have taken up prego yoga.. My aim is to not put on more than 30 lbs all pregnancy.. i dont want to be like a tent with feet!

ChicaMomma · 19/12/2013 12:45

sorry- not a stone in a month - a stone in FIRST TRIMESTER!

LastOneDancing · 19/12/2013 12:47

Chica Grin a stone a month would be REALLY going for it!

I never weighed myself just before I got pregnant but at my 12 week midwife appointment I was actually a few pounds under what I was when I'd last weighed myself several months earlier. Am nearly 32 weeks now and I've put on about 10lb and am expecting to put on a few more over the season of gluttony!

I started showing at about 11-12 weeks too, but only when in my underwear. I'm 15 weeks now and I don't think I'm any different from what I was at 11-12 weeks. Put on about half a pound last couple of weeks, but still lighter than I was when I got pregnant.

Last time, about 16 weeks. This time, 10 weeks... Was so relieved after the 12 week scan - could breathe out and wet straight into maternity jeans! Midwife says bump is right size though so no worries there.

Bloody iPhone. And *went not wet obviously.
