It's possibily like varicose veins, very glamourous and totally normal!

HappyAsASandboy · 19/12/2013 07:12

Do you mean your vulva?

I had the same issue, from 15 weeks Hmm and scared myself looking at google. It could be a cyst, but mine wasn't - it was vulval varicose veins Grin Great huh?! I was swollen and tender for the rest of my pregnancy, but it went away immediately after the birth. The varicose veins are caused by blood pooling in the veins because of the pressure the baby is exerting down onto the veins, sort of trapping/squeezing them so that the blood can't circulate as easily. If it is them, you'll likely be told to keep moving, take regular breaks if you have an office job etc, as movement will help the circulation more than sitting.

Go and see your GP/midwife to rule out anything that needs treatment, but don't scare yourself in the meantime - it might just be varicose veins :)

< oh the humour we need to maintain while pregnant. >

yes just the vulva, that makes me feel better weirdly. I do work in an office but finishing next week for xmas then don't go back so hopefully that will help. very personal question but were you able to have sex, at moment very tender and not feeling it but wanted to know if likely to continue.

I don't mind the personal question!

I think I would have wen fine having sex, but my partner was put off by pregnancy in general, so the opportunity didn't arise. But I reckon it would have been fine (maybe with some lube if needed).

Not long to go now :)

I had the same thing, and I really had to insist the doctor actually had a look to reassure me. I was imagining all sorts! I found it was much better if I rested. As for sex, I'm impressed you feel like it!! Tbh I was too tender, but we managed to have a bit of fun without penetration!

FobblyWoof · 19/12/2013 09:31

If it helps you feel bettet mine is so swollen it's turned blue Grin Very freaky!

Popping a cold flannel there when you're lying down can help, as can putting a couple of maternity pads in some secure fitting pants to give you some extra support

flowerpotgirl12 · 19/12/2013 12:41

Thanks all, feeling a lot better as Internet search completely freaked me out!

I feel for you. Im fairly certain Ive got this! Blush although Im not sore or tender, Im rather... ahem... lopsided!
I do a job where I stand up a lot, Id imagine it doesn't help! Sad
Its nice to know Im not the only one!

FairyTrain · 19/12/2013 20:04

Support knickers are your friend! Even though you haven't long to go (same as me) I haven't had them as bad this time as I've been wearing fancy support knickers and leggings or tights

Xmas2013MN6418 · 19/12/2013 20:31

Support knickers??
I already need to wear a humungus bump support belt in order to function at work! Ill look like some kind of pregnancy bondage queen!

flowerpotgirl12 · 19/12/2013 20:41

I found this last pg and this one. I'm not worried (although can't look in the mirror naked) as last time it just went. I remember feeling they had shrunk the first time it occurred to me to notice after the birth. That was a Great feeling! Maybe they'll shrink even more this time! Grin

ALittleBitOfChristmasMagic · 19/12/2013 21:20

It would go right down after a day or two then swell back up again any time we had sex . Stopped doing once ds was born . No idea what it was !Confused
