Morning sickness or a bug?

Urgh, been feeling off colour since Sunday evening. I'm not sure if it's because I'm run down or the dreaded MS has kicked in. So I'm about 8+4 and have an upset stomach and feel sick / hungry all day long until I'm sick once in the evening, after that I'm starving hungry. Massive headache too. Even reading MN is too much Sad

Has anyone else felt like this? In my first pregnancy I had a constant hangover feeling from 6 weeks but this feels so different. I can barely walk, poor DD has spent so much time on the sofa with me watching CBeebies, she's climbing the walls already. I'm sipping warm water all day but feel sooo thirsty all the time. I thought it was a bug as I had a milkshake on Sunday but this feeling just keeps going and I've only been sick once a day.

DH wants me to see the GP as I can't face eating and have been throwing up what I have managed. I think it's overreacting but I'm just feeling weaker and weaker so hope you can give some advice.

Sorry for the ramble, I can't seem to get it across how I want

Hi there, I'm new here but will try and compare with what I am feeling now. I am about 6 weeks pregnant and just started having slight nausea in the last couple of days. I have been feeling hungry and then sick after eating but it doesn't sounds as bad as you.

Not sure how bad MS can get but if you have a temperature you should definitely go and see a doctor. Especially if it's been a few days.

I am having the same predicament. I am almost at 10 weeks. I was vomiting all Monday night and then had diarrhea yesterday. I also had an intense pain in my stomach both nights. Was convinced i was having a miscarriage. I went to have a scan to put my mind at ease. I don't know if I had a bug, food poisoning or morning sickness but am just trying to rest and rehydrate myself.
Wish you better.

I'm 15+4 and have hg which is tailing off. Then thought it had got worse I was vomiting all Monday. Dawned on me it was a horrid stomach bug!

Rest up and try to keep fluids down. There is definitely something going round. Suck on ice cubes if nothing else stays and sip on flat coke. If it has not eased in 24 hours get checked out for dehydration. They will give you something for morning sickness/hg or sort you out if your bug is continuing. Don't worry about eating right now fluid is more important.

Feel better soon.

And come join us on the Hypermesis thread :)

Thanks for the messages. I'm just feeling so sorry for myself as I haven't eaten properly since Sunday lunchtime Sad and I love food! I have had no NVP up to this point just ravenous hunger so this has taken me by surprise.

I've managed to eat a piece of toast with a thin scrape of Nutella which has helped the hunger pains. I don't feel like I'm immediately going to vom but I do feel nauseous and can't really stand up. My stomach really hurts, it feels like bad hunger. I've had some hot blackcurrant too so trying to keep hydrated.

I really hope this is a bug as it is such a struggle to look after DD, she's only 9 months old and a bit clingy at the moment. She never sits still either so I'm constantly being kicked or headbutted in the stomach which quite frankly isn't helping! DH is a star and takes her off my hands from 5-6pm (her bedtime) so I get a bit of a break. He's going to get me more ice lollies, some coke and I feel like I need skittles and mccoys beefy crisps. That should help!

I had a look at the HG thread and the links on there but I'm sure it's not that as I'm only being sick once a day (fingers crossed not yet today) in the evening. Those poor women, their stories sound horrific, I guess it does pass, just feels like eternity.

I'm such a wuss, hopefully tomorrow I will be better, can't face throwing up bile again tonight Envy

I am also unsure whether I have morning sickness or if it is part of a bug. I have a horrible cold and temperature and have been throwing everything up apart from Coke since 6 am yesterday.

I am 14 weeks and only threw up once in the first trimester with morning sickness, although I had plenty of nausea until 11 weeks. I seem to throw up when I move around, which is a similar pattern to when I felt most rubbish with morning sickness.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

FlyLikeABird · 18/12/2013 20:14

Aw Sussex that sounds rough. I don't know what to suggest, just keep on with the coke and see a GP if it's not better in the morning? It does sound more like a bug if you have a temperature too. I wish we could just take a bunch of medicine but everything is BAD!!! I had achy joints on Sunday and Monday and a raging headache which seems to be settling. Really didn't want to take paracetamol on an empty stomach so put up with it.

Here's some Brew and Cake for when you are feeling up to it.

You poor thing, whatever the cause, feeling sick when pg is rubbish. You can take paracetamol on an empty stomach though, so don't worry about that.

I felt ravenous in week 5 then NVP hit with a bang from 6-16wks. I was never actually sick, but felt nauseous 24/7 which most people will agree is almost as bad! So don't feel bad for complaining. An empty stomach can make you feel worse, but I know the feeling when nothing tastes good. Just try to keep hydrated. I did have horrible hormone headaches too, so it could be pg - but there are a lot of bugs going round too.

I'm now 24wks and not sick anymore, but have just caught a lovely cold for Christmas! Look after yourself, and congrats!

livingzuid · 18/12/2013 20:38

Hypermesis is nausea as well as vomiting. I don't vomit much now but oh boy the nausea is almost as bad. Don't feel bad about calling in, loads of support from fellow sufferers!

FlyLikeABird · 18/12/2013 20:45

Just want to cry Sad I'm gearing myself up for running a bath by having a mini milk Grin I've not been able to have a shower since Sunday so hopefully a bath and a good sleep on some clean sheets (DH will have to do the honours) will be just the ticket. Hurry up home DH I want some naughty snacks and a hug!
