im really curious im 16wks with my 2nd child and dont appear to have much of a bump- its been 6 years since my son was born and cant remember if a should have one by now. Ive had a scan and all is ok, so im not concerned about that..... think im just desperate to get one

Lol, 2nd baby and probably quite fit if its 6 years since last one. Your muscles are probably great and holding it all in at the moment. I am expecting #5 and with all previous pregnancies I had hardly any bump at 16 weeks and not really a proper one till 20-24 weeks even with #4.
Don't worry and thank your lucky stars your not huge in this heat

sarahlou1uk · 20/07/2006 09:55

Hi. I got one with my 2nd almost immediately. However, I still had my tummy from the first one so I don't know what was fat and what was baby really! Everyone is different but I wouldn't worry. It'll soon be there and you'll be wishing it wasn't soooo big!!!! Good luck!

NotAnOtter · 20/07/2006 09:55

i am a 'late bloomer' too and no visible bump at 17 weeks withnumber 5 much to my annoyance - no sympathy given!!

It will arrive dont worry - good luck!

milosmum · 20/07/2006 09:55

hi everyone - this is my first post! i'm 16 weeks with my first, though i had a miscarriage earlier this year. never carried as long as this so fingers crossed! i feel huge though! i've put on almost a stone (though my midwife said i was half a stone underweight when i went for the booking in appointment) and am really struggling in this heat! would love to chat with other mums - feeling a bit wobbly at the moment still (though not nearly as bad as a few weeks ago when i started crying whilst reading Batman comics!)...

Beauregard · 20/07/2006 12:40

I found that i didn't show at 16 weeks either with my 2nd pregnancy and it worried me at the time but believe me my bump more than made up for it at 20 weeks!

HopingCat · 20/07/2006 12:53

Hello to theUrbanDryad! The best place to chat to people in the same position as you is in the Antenatal threads. I'm on the 'due in November' thread and everyone is lovely. Think you will want the 'due in Jan' thread? Have a look for your thread.

On the topic of bumps, this is my first baby and I did have a bump at 16 weeks, but I know a lot of people don't. I started off quite thin and have put on a lot of weight quite early. Hope it will come off again!

milosmum · 20/07/2006 13:05

thanks pelvicfloornomore- it is a bit of a worry as all the info you read just goes on about putting it on quicker with the 2nd. In 16 weeks i have only put on 2lb. I ve been eating and excerising as normal as my MW said to continue... from this thread though it seems im not the only late bloomer!

I'm 28 weeks, feel like ive been huge forever...

yomellamoHelly · 20/07/2006 13:58

Am currently 17 weeks and there's no mistaking my bump. That said with ds even at 6 months people were missing the fact that I was pregnant, so it's completely different. That said ds is only 2, so maybe your stomach muscles have recovered from nr 1 and are doing a better job than mine.

Kabsy · 21/07/2006 08:02

Not until 23-24 weeks - but I am 6ft2" and quite well built (or well proportioned as everyone keeps telling me!)

teabags · 21/07/2006 08:48

my 2nd baby, I'm 9 weeks and already have a bit of bump but I've only put on a pound in weight

spinamum · 21/07/2006 09:33

my bump appeared at about 12 weeks.(though work said they'd had their suspicions for a few weeks!) this is no 2 and he's 2.8. my muscles hadn't gotton back to shape from last pg(cos i don't do crunches) and i ate a lot of cake while trying for this bean. so my cake bump appeared at 12 wks.

Good luck with pg.

I do get quite a bit of sympathy as an obviously pg lady, then they ask me how far gone i am and work out there's another 6 months of sympathy to give and i'm just quite lumpy!

saralou100 · 21/07/2006 11:25

i'm 22 weeks now, but my bump suddenly appeared a couple of weeks ago, up until then i just looked 'tubby'.... my mum visited last weekend and she couldn't get over how it has just appeared since she last saw me 3 weeks before! this is my second too, ds just 17months, but i never had a huge bump with him either (even when due in 2 weeks people thought i still had 2 months to go) i put it partly down to my lonnnng body!

Bigmerlin · 21/07/2006 11:33

Hello

Pg for 2nd time, dd 2yrs. Now 16 weeks, bump appeared straight away. 1 person asked me outright at 7 weeks, many more noticed before the 12 week scan. By 14 weeks till assistants and other complete strangers were asking me when I was due!

katzg · 21/07/2006 11:35

i was a small bump person, with DD1 i wasn't showing at 24 weeks, as in no one at work had worked it out and when i told them they assumed that i must be about 12 weeks or so! and with DD2 pretty similar although was showing a bit by 20 weeks!

llynnnn · 21/07/2006 13:18

Hi
I'm now 37 weeks and HUGE! I didnt get a proper bump until about 20-23 weeks and was fed up by then of everyone saying to me 'are you sure you are so far on' and 'you are very small still' etc etc. Dont worry your bump will come very soon and then you will be waiting for it to be over (like I am!)
Have a happy and healthy pregnancy x

curtaintwitcher · 21/07/2006 13:21

milosmum i wouldnt worry...I am 15wks on 6th pregnancy[3mcs] and my last baby is only 7mths yet I am not showing at all!!! Yet my friend who is due 2wks before me is huge...lol

Loulou000 · 21/07/2006 13:27

I'm 17 weeks and have a definite bump w/o clothes (it goes out from right under my boobs and looks a quite different shape to a fat belly), but in clothes I just look porky.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 21/07/2006 13:30

I was visibly pg at 12 weeks with my first and 8 weeks with my 2nd.

At 4 months in both pgs people thought i was about 6 months gone. I guess my muscle tone needs work

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 21/07/2006 14:53

Hi milosmum, just out of interest, how tall are you? I'm just over 6ft (DH 6ft3) and people didn't notice i was pg until about 28-30wks! My midwife constantly reassured me it was cos of my height and she even got annoyed at everyones comments and ignorance!!! DS was 8lb 2 when he eventually arrived 12 days over, big enough to pass through such a small hole i'm sure you would agree!!!! Don't worry, it will come, and it means you can wear 'normal' clothes for longer!! Good luck

milosmum · 21/07/2006 15:47

brummie im 5 9"- so maybe thats the thing! im also far fitter and weight less since my last pregnancy- so maybe a have steal stomach muscles!!!

thanks all for your help!!!! i do feel much better!

riab · 24/07/2006 14:01

I hardly showed at all until 5 months, people got really suprised when I went out in a crop top and pregger jeans and they could finally see the bump! they asked how far on I was (expecting 12-14 weeks) and I told them 23 weeks!

I think if you carry high (ie no weight on around hips and bum) it takes ages to show. I was still cycling the 4 miles into work until i was 6 months gone though so I'm sure my fitness helped.
