Carrying ALL FRONT no where else

littleraysofsunshine · 17/12/2013 21:39

Ok is has its benefits, but my bumps (carrying dc3 at the min) tend to grow allllllll front. To the point where it doesn't look real lol

Downfalls: backache, stretch marks, hip pain/SPd and very sore belly button.

This will be baby number three (due in 5.5wks) in 3 years so that's another factor.

And I'm tall & slim but j wish people wouldn't think its so easy carrying this way. I do find it a blessing in disguise but also a worry as drs have said my muscle separation will only be fixed my surgery which means no more children when i have it. Hmm

I'm only 24 Hmm

Anyone else have similar carrying?

Yes! Only my first dc wasn't all up front. Im on dc6 & im normally a size 8 but short. So I look normal but like I've a ball stuck up my jumper.

Everyone seems to think it's easier but I've no idea why people would presume Its easier!

BakeOff · 17/12/2013 22:30

I'm all up front too and am suffering with all the same sympt

IHaveSeenMyHat · 17/12/2013 22:33

I was exactly the same. Massive sticky out bump, but didn't look pregnant from the back.

Wicked SPD - check
Horrendous stretch marks - check
Feeling like my navel was going to split open - check.

AND I'm short. Lucky me!

gallicgirl · 17/12/2013 22:34

I was like that.
Looked like Mr Greedy towards the end. Vastly expanded abdominal muscles and got one huge stretchmark all aaround my belly button.

BakeOff · 17/12/2013 22:35

Gahh! Stupid phone posted before I'd finished!

Yes, all the same symptoms as you OP.

The only benefit, as I see it, is that everyone KNOWS you're pregnant. There's no "ooh, is she just a bit fat?" about it in my case as I look normal from behind but as soon as I turn sideways I look like I've got a basketball down my jumper.

I dot know if my stretchmarks, backache, SPD etc wouldn't be as bad if I was carrying differently though as in both my pregnancies I have carried the same way. I am sick of it though!

ViviDeHohohoVoir · 17/12/2013 22:36

Me too!

All of the above. I remember one night laying in bed and I could actually feel my skin stretching on my tummy.

Grin at 'Mr Greedy'

K8eee · 17/12/2013 22:37

I'm 26 weeks with dc1, and although I look small for how far gone I am (well I think I do!) I don't look pregnant from the front. I'm so glad I'm not the only one suffering.

Just out of interest, do any of you know what sex your babies are?

MrsSpencerReid · 17/12/2013 22:39

With ds1 I was just huge in general, this time I'm all bump. At 33w I'm the same weight as I was pre preg, I'm very short, under 5ft so it's getting quite uncomfy now, spd, breathing, sitting, putting my socks on. Oh and driving, grrr. As there is less flab at the sides of my bump I have to wedge a pillow under it at night so turning over to ease the hip pain is a mammoth task! Ugh, hurry up baby!!
Sorry, that ended up a bit of a rant!!

enormouse · 17/12/2013 22:50

I'm all bump again with DS2, just like I was with DS1. I'm only 5ft2 and 8 stone to begin with so I feel horrendously unbalanced. Terrible backache and hip and pelvic pain. As I'm indian my stretchmarks are a light brown, I look like a tanned zebra. Still I'm about 35 weeks, so not too long to go. DS2 is measuring at the 90th centile so I'm definitely feeling the strain more this time.

I've only had boys so I don't know if I would carry differently if I had a girl.

enormouse · 17/12/2013 22:52

Is this more of a common problem with short women btw? Apart from the op, we all seem to be on the small side.

AHardDaysWrite · 17/12/2013 22:58

I'm 5'7 and was like this both times (boy and girl, both bumps the same). With dc2 I had a huge bump by the end, to the extent that people used to point at me in the street...god knows what it would've been like if I'd had twins!

IHaveSeenMyHat · 17/12/2013 23:09

k8eee - so many people said "look at you, classic boy bump!"

She's two now Grin

ViviDeHohohoVoir · 17/12/2013 23:12

I'm 5'9 so don't fit the 'short' theory :)
I was all bump for each of my 3 pregnancies and had one DD and 2 DSes, despite everyone telling me I'd have a boy when I was pregnant with DD.

enormouse · 17/12/2013 23:14

So absolutely no logic to it. Boy/girl/tall/short makes absolutely no difference.

Old wives tales are bollocks aren't they? Smile

enormouse · 17/12/2013 23:17

So there's no logic to it - short/tall/boy/girl. Absolutely nothing in it.

CranberrySaucyJack · 17/12/2013 23:23

I think you may have a point enormouse

I'm all out front and I'm 5ft.

LouisaJF · 17/12/2013 23:28

I'm short and carrying my second boy. My bump enters the room five minutes before I do! I do not look pregnant at all from the back but look like I should have 'long vehicle' signs from the front. I am a walking stretch mark with many of the same symptoms. With DS1 strangers were expecting me to give birth any minute when I was only 7 months as my bumps are not only frontal bit huge! It's fun this pregnancy lark!

littleraysofsunshine · 18/12/2013 07:39

No logic at all. Smile

I'm at the point where every tiny movement the baby makes, it makes my tummy look like an alien. Literally.
Midwifes comments are always "oh you poor thing, your muscle time has completely gone hasn't it" Hmm does great for my hormones Confused

I managed to gain a little control after dd2 but no repair.

Must add that I have also breastfed. So pregnant hormone and breastfeeding hormones in my body for like 3.5years plays a huge deal!

I didn't realise with dd1 so didn't think to fix it. Then after dd2 I thought oh man.....

How big were your babies?

OP posts:
thepiggotupandslowlywalkedaway · 18/12/2013 09:00

I'm just under 5'8" and just before I left work, someone visiting didn't realise I was pregnant until I gave them a side view. Got twins in there now, and I'm still all frontbump. And stretchmarks.

Basically, what enormouse said!

enormouse · 18/12/2013 09:34

DS1 was 8lb5, and I breastfed him for 15 months (he's now 2.2)
DS2 looks like he'll be bigger but the bump itself is measuring small.

It looks somewhat like I'm smuggling a bag full of hamsters under my top whenever he kicks.

lovelilies · 18/12/2013 09:43

I'm all front bump, feels (and looks) like baby is trying to escape from my navel Shock
No stretch marks thankfully, but do look like ive swallowed a space hopper Grin
yy to backache and spd though Sad this is dc2 was the same with dd. I'm 5'6 btw. and 36+3 Smile

HannahLaRouge · 18/12/2013 09:57

Me too! Mine was all out front and I had excess fluid so it was enormous - it genuinely looked like some fake comedy pregnancy costume. My boy is 8 weeks now and while my stomach is back to normal size my muscle tone is wrecked - back to the gym in the new year!

Pinkbell123 · 18/12/2013 10:09

I'm all front with my first. Still have 8 weeks to go and so fed up with the general shock and hilarious comments when I tell people how long I have to go.

Measuring big and been referred for a growth scan at 35 weeks by my consultants which I'm a bit nervous about. My midwife couldn't even tell me which was he was lying though as she said my stomach muscles were too hard - not sure where they came from!

I hope it is a case of 'regular baby, massive house' and not baby giant! Shock

dobedobedo · 18/12/2013 10:15

Yup I'm all front too - it looks fake! I'm 5" 4 so kinda short. I'm only 20 weeks but from the side I look way more!

Halfling · 18/12/2013 10:32

I am all front as well. I am 5ft 6in so average height and build and carrying DS2. I am measuring big for date and have been referred for a growth scan.

When I was 27 weeks and waiting at my GP's surgery, a svelte young woman asked me how far along I was. And when I told her, she said I looked full term pregnant with twins or triplets Blush

My tummy muscles appear to be stretched and damaged beyond repair and I have the most painful SPD, back ache and hip ache. Starting physio sessions from next week now.
