32 weeks pregnant with 2nd baby and been having a lot of vaginal discomfort, spoke to the midwife who said it may be varicose veins so I checked and yep that's it... so I'm wondering if anyone else had this during labour and what happened? The internet is scaring me a little about it... I've read if they rupture the bleeding can be difficult to stop. I've also been taking aspirin every day at the advice of a consultant but think it would be wise to stop that now...

Yup….4th baby & have had them the last 3 pregnancies. They appear earlier each time for me. Am 27 weeks & they're awful now. I took a pic the other day & couldn't believe it :-0 They've been there since I was 13wks.

Was v worried about labour last time, attended an MLU but had Consultant's app at 36 weeks to see if this was all still ok. He was v blasé which out my mind at rest a little. Had a v calm, straightforward water birth lasting 2 hours. Actually easier than the previous deliveries (though the longest was 4 hours). Had less pain relief (only a few puffs G&A at end) & honestly think the water's buoyancy helped relieve the pressure. The veins didn't bleed at all & within a few weeks had gone. Hopefully it'll be the same this time and for you too!
