I'm five weeks pg and am going for an early scan because I've got type one diabetes. I'm scared though, in case there's bad news :-(

Me too! Maybe they wanna do it before Christmas? My diabetes control is good so they aren't overly concerned in that respect. Odd.

Early 'early' scans can often cause more more worry because if you don't see a heartbeat all it does it make you panic! I was 7wks+3 when I had my Early Scan and was told there was little point in doing it much earlier as there wouldn't be anything to see. Even when I had it done at that stage all there was to see was a little circle that flickered.

Can you ask them to put the scan back a week??

I guess so, yeah. Will have a think about it.

Why does your GP want you to have one so quickly?

VJONES1985 · 17/12/2013 19:17

Diabetics have early scans at around 7 weeks but I guess because of xmas, I'm having mine a week early.

Ah well - at least you know you are getting cared for toe the right standard. However, you are quite anxious about the pregnancy and it would be awful if a scan that's done too early to really see anything significant would just make you worry more, especially over Christmas.

VJONES1985 · 17/12/2013 19:25

Am just gonna have to slap myself and stop worrying!

Easier said than done though Grin
I think it's because you had quite an emotional rollover coaster of a ride to actuAlly get your BFP (I remember the fretting and upsets on the bus) and so now that is here you are probably just really cherishing it and finding it hard to believe. I remember at the depth of despair you were so low convinced it we wasn't going to happen for you.....yet look at you now, here you are Smile Try and enjoy it and stay positive, there is no reason to think anything will go wrong. Stress won't do you or baby any good Smile How is dad-to-be dealing with it all?

VJONES1985 · 17/12/2013 19:32

You've hit it on the head completely - it just feels too good to be true and I still can't quite believe it!! Perhaps it still needs to sink in.

Dh was in shock for a day or two but he's fine and happy. He's very laidback about everything so he won't fret like me!
