If you are qualifying for SMP from your job you are better off staying employed by them as you continue to accrue holiday entitlement which you can be paid as a lump sum following your maternity leave.

I'm not getting ssp from my employer I'm getting esa I don't qualify for it from my employer and because I haven't been at work I'm not entitled to smp either

Im in the same boat as you hollie1stbaby
25 weeks and Dr just signed me off for 2months my employment is seasonal so i've only got another week to go and i don't qualify for ssp

I have no idea whats happening and am scared s*less about being able to afford the bills at the end of the month ive applied for contributions based esa as apparently i don't qualify for income based

I think (not sure) that you can still get your esa from the government but what i've been told is that i may have to attend meeting's at the local job center (no clue what they would be about) so you may have to do the same they also said they were going to send out a load of forms in the post i would have to fill out

Do you know if you qualify for Maternity Allowance from the government? Also you should (no guarantees) be able to get the Maternity grant of £500 if you are on esa as far as i know

All the info is to the best of my knowledge but may still be wrong and if so sorry I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone else knows more

xx
