Hi , I'm 9 weeks pregnant and work filling shelves in a supermarket . My sections is heavy lifting so since iv found out iv been trying to avoid it as much as I can (back problems a swell ) I'm planning to tell my boss when iv had my twelve week scan as sadly I can't trust my boss not to repeat the news .

I'm just starting to think about what will happen after that point , I don't want to work on a checkout as the pain and spasms in my back would be horrific . I have asked to move to filling shelves with lighter products but that will be after Christmas . Is there any reason I shouldn't do this ? Tiredness may be an issue but I can just alter my shifts so I'm not working long days. Any advice from those who've been in a similar situation would be great !

if you dont feel comfortable telling your boss, tell someone in hr or the office. it would be considered a health n safety risk to keep you there, they will need to do a risk assessment and find you suitable work..

If your manager told anyone else then you'd have cause for a serious grievance. I told mine early on as I got sickness and tiredness badly and she cut me some slack around my timeliness etc as mornings got difficult.
