What can I take for a cold?

Just that really. I'm feeling really ropey. Don't usually get colds and this one has knocked me for six. DP has been taking some stuff which has sorted him right out but it says not to take while pregnant. Paracetamol aren't doing much. What's safe and effective?

I think Lemsip is ok if it's not one of the ones with phenylephrine in - I'd double check with the chemist tbh though.

Emmy, it is very common to get a cold when you are pg.

I have PM'd you!

Honey, lemon, ginger and hot water. Best thing for a cold ever. Started taking it during last pregnancy because I couldn't take my usual huge doses of drugs and found it actually worked better! Grate your ginger into a cup, cut a chunk/slice of lemon, lob it in with a good slug of honey and pour boiling water over the lot. Yum!

Paracetamol, honey & lemon drink, saline spray for nose. That's about it I think, it's rubbish being ill and pregnant :( Get plenty of rest and hope you feel better soon

Thanks all. I'll give them all a try. Didn't occur to me to try the more 'natural' remedies (except hot toddy but obviously had to veto that one) Thanks
