What do you want for Christmas?

At Christmas would you like friends to buy you:

A) something pregnancy-specific - you're going through something life-changing, a thoughtful present would reflect this

B) something for you that has nothing to do with pregnancy - you're not just a baby-carrier!

For my recent 30th birthday one of my friends bought me some clothes for the baby and I was only 19 weeks pregnant Smile I was obviously grateful but it still felt odd.

However, I would be more than happy to receive baby related gifts for Christmas - my dad is going to buy a Moses basket for 'me' Grin

I imagine the majority of friends/family would buy something for me personally though but only time will tell Smile

I have requested to just have presents for me. Some things, I'm sure, will be somewhat pregnancy related (moisturisers, bath stuff, no booze etc.) but I absolutely don't want baby stuff. That can all be given to the baby when it arrives!

DinkyMole · 14/12/2013 07:53

B, definitely!

Thingymajigs · 14/12/2013 07:58

Well this year we are short on money due to baby and moving house so we have asked that we don't buy for adults just for kids. So any presents I do get will be for the baby and I'll be happy with that but then I do like practical gifts anyway.
If I had put lots of thoughts into other people's presents though and I then received only baby items I might feel a bit down, so unless requested always buy something for the person not the baby.

rachyconks · 14/12/2013 08:02

Definitely b! Without a doubt.

Plateofcrumbs · 14/12/2013 08:03

For the sake of clarity option (a) is pregnancy related not baby related. Voucher for pregnancy massage, something like that. No baby stuff til baby arrives!

Pregnancy related but similar to normal (so a pregnancy massage if a spa treatment would usually be a good gift) is fine

Plateofcrumbs · 14/12/2013 08:10

a good gift would be a bottle of vodka Grin

I'd like a 3d scan and permission to find out the sex from my bf but doubt that will happen cos apparently "everyone" says its absolutely great we didn't find out at 20w scan...

Shellywelly1973 · 14/12/2013 09:14

Permission? Tiptop

I will only have 5 weeks left of this pregnancy by Christmas day so ive asked gor vouchers.

I am planning a BIG shopping spree after this baby appears...im sick of maternity clothes!

Plateofcrumbs · 14/12/2013 09:26

I don't know what happened to my last post, but was trying to say in normal circumstances I'd get a bottle of vodka, and it's a tough one to preggo-up

Shelley - permission may be the wrong word... He doesn't want to find out..... And keeps reminding me how good it is that we haven't.

lovelilies · 14/12/2013 13:38

My dp's the same tiptop so we don't know even though I wanted to... I am quite happy to have the surprise factor though it would have been easier if we knew (in terms of buying things).
I can't wait to buy normal clothes again too shelley so vouchers would be perfect... planning on hitting the shops as soon as I'm able to leave the house Grin Grin

Lol! Tiptop It was the other way round for us. Exdp was bursting to find out but I was indifferent. I couldn't not find out as it would have been cruel to him!

Shellywelly1973 · 14/12/2013 13:43

love & Tiptop your both so good-in previous pregnancies I was desperate to know the gender.
I would have ignired dp.

Im wondering if these are pfb for you both?

Writerwannabe83 · 14/12/2013 13:49

I found out at 16 weeks and I absolutely love knowing the sex!!

Go behind his back TipTop for a private gender scan, lol Grin

LeafyGreen13 · 14/12/2013 13:59

I'd love clothes vouchers as well. I'm another one sick of maternity clothes. I had a wander around the women's department the other day looking at all the lovely jumpers and coats.

lovelilies · 14/12/2013 19:51

No shelley dd is 8 and I did find out with her (really wanted a girl so needed to prepare myself in case she was a he!Blush ) but this time I don't mind, but this is dp's pfb Smile

peeapod · 14/12/2013 20:11

I din't think anyone can top my christmas presents. We are moving into our new 2 bed house from a flat on thursday.. and i have my 20w scan on christmas eve where we find out what flavour baby we are having..

everything else is just 'stuff' isnt it? :)

ICantGoOverItICantGoUnderIt · 15/12/2013 13:17

I am asking for flannel pjs for me to use after DC2 is born in feb. With DD I spent a large portion of the day in jammies to start with, so I really want pretty and cosy ones so I feel like less of a slob! I want the shirt style ones to wear with a maternity vest underneath for bfing.

I'm also hoping someone might get me a pg massage. Ooh that would be lovely. Also cushions and pictures and nick nacks for the house, I'll be spending a lot of time here over the next few months, it'll be nice to have nice things to look at!

emmac3616 · 15/12/2013 13:29

B - without any shadow of doubt!!!!
