Fetal movements-what's normal?!

Are there any guidelines as to what is 'normal' movement and what counts as 'reduced'?! Baby has been quite active (I'm 31 weeks) but sometimes I seem to go through a phase when he hardly moves at all. Is that normal? This is no 2 and DS was not a big kicker and I can't really remember what I should or should not be worried about! Also not sure if I'm getting in a tizzy because my friend had a stillbirth at 38 weeks in the summer and her only warning was reduced movement ...

Hi

I hope this helps countthekicks.org.uk/mums/your-babys-movements/

I think it depends on the phase of quietness & what is normal for your baby. Hope the above site helps. Please contact your midwife even if it means you just sleep easier tonight knowing you are just being a worried mum

I'd love to give some sage advice here, but I'm 34 weeks and always anxious about kick rate for the same reason!

Some days are quieter than others, and just when I'm starting to work myself up into a tizzy I'll cop for a judo chop in the bladder and feel much relieved.

im exactly the same worry myself silly if I don't feel proper movement then suddenly she will start moving loads im 31 weeks pregnant. think I will prob worry until she is born! ! xx

Well I guess it's one of those things which is different for all of us and when your do get a kick in the bladder you rather wish you hadn't! I'll check out that website though - thanks all!

I'm another one that finds it a bit confusing. I'm 25 weeks and some days he is really quiet and others he just doesn't stop.

Yesterday was a really quiet day, the odd flick and tickle but nothing major and only occurred a few times during the day. However, today, he hasn't stopped wriggling for about 6 hours Grin

It's so hard knowing when to worry and when not to... Hmm
