Hi, this is my third dc so you'd think I'd know but dc1 was induced 16 days late (back to back & emcs) and dc2 was a vbac but first sign of imminent labour was waters breaking after fifth sweep.
So.... my labour symptom spotting so far includes...

  • REALLY bad shooting pains up cervix (similar pain to having my waters broken my two, yes two, ham-fisted mws)
  • feeling sick since yesterday afternoon
  • two small shows (but no blood)
  • BH when I do anything!
  • generally feeling a bit crap/ even more hormonal!!
  • urge to redecorate (actually stripped the living room yesterday! Shock)
  • lower back pain.

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow. Should be having my first sweep on Thursday.

So, what do you think??

how come you're having a sweep at 38 weeks??

it does sound like normal late pregnancy i'm afraid!

scaredoflabour · 10/12/2013 16:10

Because of DC1 being an emcs. My consultant doesn't advice inductions for VBACs so to give it the best shot at a 'normal' birth, I had sweeps from 38 weeks with DC2 and will again this time.

I went 16 days over with dc1 without a sniff of labour. DC2 was born 3 days late despite 5 sweeps and consultants had started to change plan to csec for the day she was actually born.

Oh, and one more thing. I'm now measuring 41 weeks despite being only 38! Sad

ahh i see, i didn't think sweeps were effective unless the cervix was favourable? i hope it all starts off for you soon though!

scaredoflabour · 11/12/2013 21:35

well I seem to still be losing mucus plug. Little bit at a time though.
Bundaberg I had to have 5 but I'm positive helped a little to ripen and get things moving.
Sweep tomorrow so keeping fingers crossed.
