Just how different can two pregnancies be for one woman?

In my first (successful) pregnancy I was riddled with heartburn (worth it for the shock of hair ds came out with) and for the last 2 weeks awful sacro illiac pain which I'm still suffering nearly one year on. Morning sickness to week 18 but I think that's almost too common to comment on.
I'm not looking for problems before they begin, but just wondering, have those of you with more than one child had very similar pregnancies, very different pregnancies, or suffered with problems that occurred in the first pregnancy and got worse with each subsequent pregnancy?

mine were polar opposites.

first was a dream, i felt fitter and more healthy than i did pre pregnancy! didnt feel the slightest bit of morning sickness, no back pain nothing! birth was a 74 hour nightmare though.

second was horrible from the outset. i had terrible morning sickness from pretty much the moment of conception. severe heartburn, back ache, migraines high blood pressure... the works. i also had polyhydramnia (too much amniotic fluid) which meant my balance was off all the time.
the birth was a text book delivery whih lasted 20 minutes with absolutly no pain relife at all.

Mine were both very different. With dd (my first) I had a fairly easy pregnancy apart form a bleed at 16 weeks but luckily she was fine then was pretty smooth sailing until labour in which she was back to back and established labour was 19 hours ( i'd been in pain for 4 days and not slept previously). With ds it was smooth sailing apart from I had more morning sickness and was worried abut mc in the first 12 weeks as i'd mc at eight weeks previously. They then found out I had sticky blood which meant taking half an asprin a day and which was probably the cause of my previous mc. Then at 20 weeks they found he had renal dilatation , I had to have an amnio and then a five week wait for the results (the machine that asessed results broke) as it could have been a marker for a chromosomal disorder. It turned out everything was fine in the end but was horrible to go through. The labour itself was completley different too forty minutes established with no pain relief. I do believe they are all different.

*should have said with ds it was more or less plain sailing until 20 weeks.

ds1 was a dream, only sock for 3 days and only had a bit of heartburn
ds1s birth was ok, gas and air, 3 hours

ds2 however, i was sock from day 1 until i was about 6 months, from then i had horrible hip pain,evil heartburn and leg cramps ALL THE TIME but his birth was really nice,20 mins and no pain relief

MIne were very different, ds1 no problems at all until the end, back to back very long labour.

Ds2, well lets see, sicknes until 14 weeks, at 15 weeks I got pleurisy which took 4 weeks to recover from, then at 26 weeks I got SPD and pain in my sacro illiac joints, which are also still bothering me nearly a year on, I got a UTI at 31 weeks that sent me into labour which thankfully stopped and I was on crutches and in and out of hospital for the last 4 weeks with the SPD. However, he came a day beofre his due date after a nice short labour and 6 pushes.

You just don't know what your going to get, but I would say if you've had back rouble in a previous pregnancy it will probably come back in the next one and often sooner.

I had leg cramps and heartburn with ds2 as well, gaviscon was a staple of my diet

with dd I was sick from finding out at 4 weeks, suffered with spd and the general pregancy things. I not only felt sick but was sick until around 16-18 weeks.

I'm currently 12 weeks with baby2 and have felt sick since finding out again at week5. Not actually been sick though. Just waiting to see how things go...hope the birth is not as long at 10 hrs 50 min....

DS1 was a nightmare that involved multiple hospitalisations- 1 for rehydration with hyperemesis (severe vomiting) and then 6 for pre-eclampsia / IUGR. DS2 I bled for a day at 28 weeks so one night in hospital (nausea controlled by tablets), ds3 zilch problems- a bit of slow growth but when I packed in work, he caught up. very different pg's indeed. And very different children.

1st pregnancy - no sickness, faiting and dizzy spells, slight anaemia towards the end, increased bp towards the end. Induced at 41 weeks

2nd pregnancy - much easier but slight anaemia again. Spontaneous labour at 40 weeks.

3rd pregnancy - utterly shattered and very queasy in 1st trimester. Felt fabulous in 2nd trimester. Baby died 19 weeks into the pregnancy

4th pregnancy - ok first trimester, nasty infection in 2nd trimester that involved feeling dreadful and vomiting; anaemia in 3rd trimester - quite debilitating. Induced at 38 weeks.

So not vastly different although the anaemia seems to be a regular fixture.

ds1, no symptons just heartburn later on, straight forward delivery although it lasted 23hours, just a small graze afterwards.

currently 31weeks - bleeding till 13 weeks on and off, morning sickness all way through so far, heart burn, spd, restless legs, cramp, mood swings, extreme tiredness.

all worth it

but there was a different father and a 9 yr gap to contend with.
I'm expecting again and have battened the hatches down for remedies I am preapred for ANYTHING!
Both births were superb though, I must be lucky or something easy 45 min labours, both babies born in their waters, no tears, out of hospital in under 2 hours both times.

First pregnancy as big as a whale. Norks the size of footballs. Sickness. Baby Girl
Second pregancy. Little bump, neat as you like, boobs not that much bigger. No sickness. Baby Girl.
Only 1 oz difference in weight too.
Totally different babies/personalitys too.

With my second pregnancy all the same symptoms of first but worse
Morning sick all day (rather than in morning only) for 16 weeks rather than 12.
SPD started at 19 weeks (rather than 32)
Put on 29kgs rather than 25.
Swollen ankles came on earlier, stayed later afterwards ....

The only thing that was better was the birth and the time that followed.

Are you supposed to get heartburn if your baby has a lot of hair? Cos I had heartburn and my two where both bald as eggs.

all 3 of my pregnancies so far have been very different.

DS pregnancy was feeling nauseas all the time, had lots of physical energy but had lots of scans due to various bleeding and problems with ds which turned into nothing. extremely bad allergies.

DD spd started at 14wks physically throwing up, no allergies drained physically but mentally felt fab.

DB am 14wks and so far no sickness no sign of being pg at all apart from scans and a bleeding incident.

Mine have been fairly similar, so far, but with symptoms from first one (queasiness, piles, dreadful heartburn (no hair ), high blood pressure at the end) starting earlier and being more intense. Not got to the high bp bit yet, but have been warned I will!

With ds I had hyperemesis and was in hospital for 6 weeks. was sick every day for 26weeks, high blood sugar levels, swollen feet from mid trimester, headaches, heartburn and stress.

now 30 weeks, found out i was 10weeks when i went for a scan to determine if it was safe to fit an IUD (my periods refused to start). no problems so far, ran and jumped around quite a bit this morning. compared to the last time it's a ball. I almost forget i'm pregnant some days (HA! like that' possible).
My colleagues just figured out that I'm actually not 'just fat' because I was so down last year.

Mine were totally different.

Never felt as well as when pg with DS1.

Never felt so ill as when pg with DS2. And my hair went curly (wtf is that about?!)

best bit is I dont look like a case of mumps, measles and elepantiasis.

My pregnancies were completely different,

Ds - Was like a dream pregnancy only things i really suffered from were complete tierdness & bad heart burn but i felt i could deal with it.

Dd - on the other hand was completely awful, i was extremley ill from weeks 5-7 literally could not move from my bed, i had bad sickness, found it v hard to sleep, really bad heart burn & sciatica in my back.

Completely different!

With DD I had morning sickeness, was hormonal, crying all the time, put a lot of weight. However, had a lot of energy and was planting flower bulbs the day before she was born!

With DS, gain little weight, but had humongous belly. It turns out I had gestational diabetes!
Still, I wasn't hormonal all the time; but was bloody tired from 5 months on!
